Longstreet knew Halai was not at home. He also knew he had the right to enter to investigate further. even if he did not he was going in. He remembered the box she had gotten before she left. The mysterious one sent via package delivery. Did it have something to do with all of this? The murders? He intended to look around and see what he could find. Entry was easy. After all he was SF Security. He could get into any place, save a very few, on the planet.
The wrought iron gate he faced was beautifully and clearly hand made and it had been set into some fencing that formed a perimeter around the property. But like Cosgrove herself, while it gave an air of secrecy, it was not closed off entirely. Carefully considered openness seemed to be the theme both with the woman and her home.
The override on the gate went through only because of Longstreet’s credentials, but he had to know it wouldn’t go unnoticed.
Up the front walk, large flat stones formed the walkway and the front gardens were lush and a bit wild as he walked to the front arched door, which was also locked, but when she was home, was usually open (at least it had been before the attack). Again, his code would allow entry- one of only a few that could do so unimpeded.
Longstreet encountered the guard. Showed him the credentials and let him know he was entering under the National Security exemption which let him bypass the usual protections afforded a citizen not to be subjected to unreasonable searches and seizures. which in this case he probably had a reasonable reason to be there but no warrant.
As he entered the dark and quiet apartment he looked around slowly.
“Computer lights to medium intensity, SF override code 43 Delta Longstreet. ” He said in a normal voice.
“Confirmed.” The homes LCARS system repliied and the lights came on.
He then began his search.

OOC: there’s a couple issues with this, but we can work with it. :) You would have had to get through the front gate first (which he’d have an override there too I guess) and then through the front door. Remember, she’s in a villa up on the ‘hill’ and it’s got a large wrought iron fence around it with a lot of surreptitious security. One of her two bodyguards is still about to maintain security given the attack on Cosgrove. Also remember that the box was given to her directly by Prim Zar the day before she was killed.
IC:
As the lights came on, Longstreet found himself in a spacious and open room that was clearly Halai’s living area. Combined with the kitchen, it formed an L-shape with the kitchen farther down disappearing to the right. A couple sofas and chair formed a sitting area that centred around an organic looking metal and glass table sat on a lush looking hand woven rug and near a fireplace. Immediately to his right was a hallway that went off into another L-shape and it was likely where the bedrooms and other rooms were. The back of the house from his standpoint was all floor to ceiling windows from which he could see her stone patio and the terraced gardens that formed the back yard, complete with a hot tub and at the very bottom, a small greenhouse. Apparently the geologist had a serious green thumb, which while it shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise given she was terraforming a planet, might still have seemed more than expected. Even from the other side of the house he could see how lush it was back there and how much work Halai obviously put into it.
If there was one other thing he knew about the woman and yet became more evident standing in her place it was that she was an artist and appreciated the art of others. Stone sculptures (like hers), paintings on the walls, woven items like rugs and blankets, and even the mixed media lighting pieces all screamed an artist sensibility. Whatever technology was present in the house was also carefully concealed- a Tyrellian preference.

At this point it was a room by room search. Its all he had.

OOC: He wouldn’t find anything suspicious, Halai/Linds is a center figure, but she doesn’t know that yet - neither of them do :-) I assume your staff is at the same time searching Prim Zar’s condo in the city. They will find a ton of suspicious stuff there, but most are left-overs from Shamera Zar’s inheritance who was a known smuggler and pimp, so maybe not so surprising :-) but they also find a data stick with information about the box.
=^=Lt. O’Garian to Cmd Longstreet=^=
It was the officer in charge of the search Prim Zar residence.
=^=Go ahead Lt.=^=
=^=Sir we found a lot of stuff that was rather expected here based on the file we have on Shamera Zar. However there is a data stick with information about a box of some sort. You told us to look for anything related to a small box. Its not here but we have the data. Not sure what is all on it.=^=
=^=Good Lt. Secure it as evidence and take it to my office. I’m not finding anything here. I will join your team back at base.=^=
=^=Aye Sir.=^=
Longstreet then gave the place a once over and left empty handed. Maybe they had found something. Strange how Cosgroves case was now connecting to the Zar murder.

Longstreet arrived back at his office. He secured the data strip and using a stand alone LCARS system he tried to open it.
OOC: Stand alone in case its not secure and has counter measures. Just need to know if it has a PW or encrypted etc…Longstreet
OOC: It’s not encrypted but has a password protection.

Darn I PW thought Longstreet. He then opened up the best program SF had for breaking PWs and ran it on the program.

Finally he gained access to the data. It was a letter. Addressed from a woman called Billy (Ty’s character) to Halai Cosgrove.
“My love, please believe me when I say I love you. By now you have found out that I came back in time. It is true, it was a paid gig for me, but the main reason I did it was to bring back the cure for you. A cure you have developed - in your future.
In my timeline Dr. Halai Cosgrove is famous for having developed a new way to manipulate DNA and you laid the groundwork for what later became your cure. Once you are exposed to the content of the box, you won’t have to take those injections anymore that align your Tyrellian heritage with your human genes. You’ll be free. That’s why I wanted to give it to you.
But then I found out that it had other secondary effects as well. I learned it makes pure-blooded Tyrellians barren, unable to conceive. The Tyrellian species would die out within a century!
I also found out that once you are exposed to it, your blood will carry a newly mutated enzyme that can prolong the life of many humanoid species, including humans, indefinitely. Unfortunately that knowledge didn’t stay secret. I don’t know who it was, but I realised the secrecy was breached. The only way for that to happen would be another person travelling back in time, from my time. But I don’t know who.
What I did realise was that this put you in extreme danger. So I hid the box with the only being I trusted, the Zar symbiont. Both Shamera but mostly Anu have always been good to me and I know Anu is your friend. She understands why you can’t have the box. As much as I love you and want you healthy and happy, the price is too high Halai. Don’t ever open that box, but don’t destroy it either. Whoever comes looking for it is likely to be the other time traveller and all I know about her or him is that she or he has much more on her or his agenda than just living forever.
If you read this it’s very likely that something bad happened and I’m no longer with you. Maybe I had to go back to my time. Whatever it was, know that I will always love you.
Yours, Billy
