A week after his transfer hit, Max was landing on the shuttle pad at OED. As the shuttle cleared off, an eager looking ensign stood outside. “Lt Andrews?”
“That’s me.” Max said as he stepped down onto the deck. “Something you need ensign?”
“Sir! I’m your assistant, Ensign Marcus Carter.”
“Now maybe I’m just jetlagged ensign, but I don’t remember putting in a requisition for you.”
“Well sir, the good folks up at command don’t expect you to found the whole office on your own. And I applied to read the law while I was already stationed here.” Max sighed the heavy sigh of someone getting off too long a flight to deal with anything.
“So you’re my legal protège here. Do you have any experience or training at all?”
“Well sir, I have Starfleet security training and my brother is a lawyer, he’s been tutoring me.”
“I have to report to the Captain. Find our office and start setting up. I’ll meet you there when I’m done.”
“Aye sir.”
note to self: teach the kid to ditch the aye sir thing now that he’s in law.

It took a little bit of searching to find the senior staff offices and along the way Max overheard the beginnings of what will soon be divorce proceedings for him to hear. He came to Captain Xavier’s office. He pressed a door chime and waited.

The Captain had been busy. As the SF person in charge he had plenty of Sf things to do. As the Lt. Governor there were other duties added into the mix. However he knew the new Jag would be arriving today and he expected this might be him.

“Enter!” He called out as the door swooshed open on his command.
