Tia laughed at the doctor’s startled response. “I shall have to see that that’s changed. Perhaps I shall schedule a weekly checkup just to see how you are.” She chuckled and laid down on the appointed bed.

And Cross laughed with her ‘’I do not think that’s a good idea,it would be more fun to have a drink or two in the Lounge’’ she suggested.The female doctor was not one to shy away from making new friends.

The engineer smiled. “I will agree with you, there. Chances are a weekly entry in my record of medical check ins probably wouldn’t be a good thing.” She laughed as the woman began her exam.

The scanner would show nothing alarming. Usual vaccinations, healthy growth, and good vitals. There was a small access of rebuilt muscle and tendon in her right wrist that differed from her left. Scan would show two year old sprained wrist that had healed well.

As the exam continued, Tia stared at the ceiling and tried to be still.

Reading the scan Cross gave the engineer the thumbs up ‘’You’re cleared for duty Tia’’ she announced ‘’Do you have the same strength in your right hand as you did before the injury?’’ the doctor asked as she pulled a nearby computer.

Cross Dr.

Tia nodded and moved her hand around. “Yes, Ma’am. Sometimes if I’m planetside, the pressure will affect it. But I hear it’s like old times and moisture with arthritis. Nothing more than a dull ache, then it’s gone. It’s never cost me a job or lost me a tool.” She was pretty proud of her recovery, but knew better, at least with the Doc, to hide even the littlest thing. It made a difference when something ‘serious’ went wrong later down the line.

‘’Please just call me Cross ‘’ the doctor said in a dead neutral tone and then muttered ‘’I have yet to do a medical on a human who has not sprained or broken a bone in the past…oh and don’t forget the lounge if we came out of this mission alive, I really hope you can give me some advice on how you keep your hair tidy’’ .
That was Cross jumping from one subject to another in the span of a couple of seconds.
