Jasper returned to engineering to run the final system check and put his tools away before the ending of his shift after all the things he has done today he was rather tired.
Jasper finished and signed off his terminal as he moved over to the main doorway to engineering as he looked things over as he turned to leave He thought he heard his name called as he turned again and saw nothing.

Tia came around the corner and saw Jasper. Glancing a moment to where he was looking, she furrowed hey how a moment. “Trouble, Erickson?”

She set her tool pouch into the locker and looked back at him. End of second shift was usually quiet. And even Tia wasn’t surprised engineering was nearly empty, save for a single ensign up on the third level catwalk doing the checklist.

“I am not sure Chief? I swore I heard my name called but no one was there that might have said it?” Jasper said calmly to her. “It might have been a long day I am more tired than usual.” He waited for the lift to arrive. “How was your day sir?” Still looking around casually.

Tia smiled. “No need to call me ‘Sir’ unless ranks are around. Tia is fine, it’s easier.” She smiled and leaned on the wall behind her, crossing her arms. “It was all right. Nothing unusual. You said you thought you heard your name called? Was it clear or like a whisper or echo?” She wasn’t teasing him. There were echoes thru the tubes, corridors and such that could explain what he heard. But then again, depending on location and clarity, perhaps there were other reasons.

Jasper smiled sincerely. “Nice to meet you, Tia.” Jasper said kindly to her. “Strangely the voice was clear.” Jasper said with a bit of concern.

Tia glanced around and shrugged. “Well I don’t see anyone. My guess is either something echoed down the conduits and someone will walk in any minute and be furious you didn’t answer,” she smiled letting the jibe relax the situation. “The other option is that you didn’t actually hear anything, but thought you did. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Sometimes when I get deep into work, I’ll stop because I ‘swore’ someone either called my name or even tapped me on the shoulder. So I wouldn’t worry about it.” She moved towards the nearest console to check on a diagnostic she had started earlier.
