Once she entered and the door closed, she took a bold moment and reached out just to rest the back of her right hand against the back of his left as she paused in passing him. The feel of the him all she wanted. She wasn’t sure if she would feel the crackle between them or not, his always being so shielded when not in his quarters, but the touch lingered a moment more than it should have as she spoke about Daniel. “He wanted more than Warp 6.” She looked up at him, concern clear in her eyes. “He came in and wasn’t satisfied till we got successive passes on over a dozen sims at Warp 8.5. I don’t like it, Kord. I feel like we are building a giant weapon core. And the Merri is the shell he is firing across the vast darkness between here and....” she shook her head and looked down at where they touched. “If you tell me it’s going to be ok, I’ll believe you.” She looked back up at him.

“Oh yeah, and he said to be sure you collected enough of the Hydrogen and Hellium.” She growled slightly under her breath.

OOC: I just wanted to remind folks that Daniel did say originally he needed warp 8 not warp 6 if thats what you originally thought. Didn’t want folks going too far off the rails on this. Its fine to think he’s devious or whatever you can even question him again on it if you like but from all simulations we did (off screen) he is so far on the up and up fyi. Just hope i’m not sending mixed signals!

OOC: My 2 cents! Captain Glen has been unable to take part in those discussions. My feeling is that although Glen trusts Daniel, he would still be suspicious of an ulterior motive too. We have no evidence of that, but it’s a perfectly natural suspicion to have by anyone. He must appear as a very strange guy and we are supposed to take everything he says at face value. (We also don’t trust the GM that much as he has form.)

Also, the Merrimack specs would allow for a sustained but limited period of Warp 8. We have just travel to the nebula to collect gas at Warp 8 for 3-4 days. The Mariner class ship specs say “The warp core for the Mariner is rated at 900 cochranes with a max velocity of TOS-Warp-9.6 for 12 hours, a max sustainable velocity of TOS-Warp-8.5, and a cruising speed of TOS-Warp-5.5.” I think the problem is how much power the device is going to be drawing off. We don’t understand it or how it will work. Could it cause some accelerating cumulative effect that draws more and more power and cannot be shut down? Again, I think it is perfectly understandable to be suspicious and concerned.
