As a new day dawns on the Merrimack.

Jasper was up early dealing with a shower and shaved as he finished what he needed to do before getting ready for another day of craziness on the Merrimack and engineering. He briskly left his quarters and headed down to main engineering a bit early as he took a seat at his station and looked over the readings and status reports for the new day to see if there was anything that needed to be done before the chief arrived. “good morning guys as he said to all with a slightly chipper attitude as he gave them a small smile.

It wasn’t long till before Tia, the Engineering Chief, walked in. Seeing everyone working, she nodded. Passing by Jasper, she patted his shoulder. “Welcome back… ready to work?” She glanced down at him and smiled wondering it he was feeling up to coming back.

“ready as I can be chief!” Jasper said with a small polite smile as he finished off his readings and other scans. As he stood up from his station as he signed out. “Whats first chief?” Jasper asked quickly as he grabbed his tool kit from the nearby counter.

She laughed and headed for the ladder. “We need to catch up on some routine cleaning and maintenance that’s been lacking on the back up systems. Life has shown us that back up can become primary in a half a heart beat.” She headed up the ladder and then reached down to accept the tool box.

Jasper followed her to the ladder as he gave her the tool kit as he followed her up the ladder. “I understand Chief!” Jasper said with another of his smiles as he climbed up through to continue to follow her.

Tia got the box and moved along the deck. Once they were alone, she turned to him. “Ok, I lied. I need you to help me on a project.” She gave him a quick synopsis of the conversation and the need for engineering to make some of the things the guest needed.

“So, we have a list of things that need to be fabricated. While I wasn’t told this was a great secret, I think containing the information and not turning it into a ship wide lookieloo is the better part of prudence. So stash this box in locker J, it belongs there anyway,” she laughed and pointed to the location marker on the box. “I’ll get one of the others to check the other lockers and put everything to rights. I need you and perhaps a couple other to help me with this project. You game?” She looked at him with a smile like a child recruiting other children to start mischief. To be honest, the ideas intrigued her and she was curious how this whole thing was going to play out.

“ok?” Jasper said with a bit of a surprise. “As you wish chief!! I won’t say a word but I have no issues with helping.” As he placed the tool kit in the locker labeled J. “Game? I am Game? Sure this is intriguing to me now I love a good mystery. ” Jasper said with a kind smile.
