“Wweelll… There is that idea as well.” Her eyes narrowed, and her smile widened, as the idea formed in her mind. “Have you considered a showing? We could do the whole ‘snobby aires’ thing with cheese and various wines. Make it not uniform formal. Give everyone a chance to dress up outside of our Mess Dress. What do you think?”
The idea that others might like to see his work was part of it. The other was that she doubted anyone had ever asked to see his stuff in a while. This way he could share with the whole crew.
Tia
“I have two large containers with the paintings and drawings hung vertically on frames that one flips through like a book. There are hundreds down there. I just have to cycle the inert atmosphere I use to halt degradation before opening the doors.”
Kord thought for a moment.
“We could probably make it an occasional event. Much of my artwork is thousands of years old.”
- Kord
Tia smiled. Hopefully he wasn’t just placating her, and truly wished the others to see. “The Masters will be jealous.” She laughed. “I understand good artwork has to be at least a century old to be priceless. And you get to see the appreciation that mere mortal artists more because of our short lives. And I’m sure there will be plenty of competition to get a piece of your talent.” She reached over to touch his hand as she thought to ask. “Are you really ok showing it off? Don’t do it just because of me. Though I hope I’ll get to see them regardless. I’m a fan, after all. Biased or not.” She winked teasing.
Tia
Kord smiled and gently grasped her fingers with his.
“I’d be more than happy to put on a viewing for anyone who’s interested. I wasn’t reaching for greatness, just doing something I enjoyed.”
- Kord
Tia smiled. “I’m glad. I’m definitely interested.” She stood up, keeping his hand in hers and let him to the couch.
The next hour was spent discussing the way to do the show, how to display his work and just how much of it he was willing to get rid of.
As the night waned, Tia yawned and rested her head on the back of the couch. She was curled up sideways, barefoot with her skirt hiked very unladylike up over her calves from her getting comfortable. “I’m glad we did this, Kord. I know you work about me and the age difference. But I hoped you won’t worry about it often. I want to try and make your happier than you’ve been in a long time.” She reached out along the back of the couch and touched his shoulder lightly. “Will you let me try?” Her last words were given with a grin of mischief that hinted that he may not have a choice, despite her asking.
Tia
CEKord knew they were genetically incompatible and thought *Why not. * it had been a long time since he did more than kiss a curious woman.
“I think I’d like to see what you come up with.” Kord said with a warm smile.
- Kord
While she had been slightly flirting, she honestly hadn’t expected him to agree. When he did, Tia was glad. Her smile softened from its mischievous look and she nodded. “I’m glad. Perhaps we can both learn to relax a bit more.” While the idea of curling up with him and sleeping made her body flush, Tia didn’t want to push it. “Perhaps tomorrow night we can look at your paintings? And you can choose dinner. I am sure you have a replicator full of things I’ve never even heard of that you love to eat.” She smiled and left her arm on the back of the couch, her finger tips still lightly touching his shoulder. “I’m curious, actually, as to what your favorite dessert is. I’ve been told you can tell a lot about a person by how they sate their sweet tooth.” Her laugh was accompanied by a wink. She was teasing, but it could give her insight into what things he enjoyed when not trying so hard to work.
Tia
As Kord’s attention divided to devote serious consideration to Tia’s questions. As he looked down in thought, she could feel a faint electrical tingle where her fingers touched his shoulder.
“My diet is fairly simple though high in electrolytes. You may find some of the flavors unappealing. They’ve usually been described as salty and metallic in nature. My most recent favorite is an old style German black forest cake.” Kord said with a bit of a smile, “The one made with cherry spirits, not that layer of sweet coconut paste.”
Kord looked back up into her eyes.
“As for the paintings, would you like to see them before or after we eat?”
Apparently sweet but complex flavors were something Kord enjoyed for desserts.
- Kord
Tia smiled. “Before… if I eat Black Forest Cake for dessert, I may not wanna move afterwards,” she laughed. “I love pretty much anything chocolate. Though I admit I’ve never had it with the cherry spirits. And I usually end up scraping off the coconut layer. So I’m definitely looking forward to that. As to your meal preferences. If I don’t like it, I’ll eat more cake.” She smiled once more with a teasing wink.
Her fingers absently moved over his shoulder with a feather light touch, the back of her mind, and her body, enjoying the sensation and reveling in it like a cat in a warm swatch of light. It dawned on her it was getting late. “I should probably let you go, huh? I mean, morning briefings come pretty early.” There was a tone in her voice that sounded sad to see the night end.
Tia
“I actually sleep very little.” Kord said in reply as he covered her hand with his.
He pulled her to him, wrapping her in his arms. His bioelectric field made her skin tingle lightly like she was wrapped in a warm fuzzy blanket.
- Kord
Her slight gasp at his sudden boldness was followed by her cheeks burning a bright crimson. She settled sideways in his lap, one arm around his neck, the other on his chest. After a moment, she managed to look up at him. His eyes were so fascinating, to her. Stunning, yet guarded. She could accept that. He’d been thru so much she couldn’t even imagine, that she could understand his hesitation in opening himself to another person he’d probably far outlive again.
“Maybe you just haven’t found the right balance of peace and security to do so. Even immortals need to sleep, Kord…” she reached up and brushed the back of her fingers over his cheek. Her heart has been racing when he pulled get close. But now Tia’s heart was slowing, as if trying to fall in rhythm with his. The tingling crackle of energy she felt when touching him, turned to a warming hum around her body with his embrace. It made her smile and blush again at the thought line that created.
Tia
Kords crystal clear blue eyes regarded Tia. A gaze that had seen over 400 centuries in a face that looked to be in early middle age… He smiled.
“It’s getting late and I shouldn’t keep you. You need sleep too.”
- Kord
Tia’s laugh was soft and genuine as she caressed his cheek. “You know, Kord, for a man who’s lived as long as you, you have horrible timing.” She shook her head slightly and kept smiling. “You’re going to pull me this close, then just sty good night?”
There was a bold teasing in her voice that was more confident than most of her emotions that night. She hadn’t been sure how he felt, so she’d kept a slight distance, just as he had. But now she was getting bolder.
Tia
Kord arched and eyebrow.
“I thought intercourse on the first date was taboo for Humans.” Kord said as his hand wondered up the front of her body to rest gently on her cheek.
- Kord
She lightly tilted to press against his touch. Her voice was soft, almost a whisper. “Perhaps one night stands, are. But something tells me that’s not what this would be. At least I would hope not.”
She moved her fingers lightly back and forth on the back of his neck. “I also believe that pleasure shouldn’t be squandered. And we shouldn’t go to sleep with regrets.”
In a rather bold move, for her, Tia leaned forward and kissed the XO gently on the lips. She felt the tingle of power of managed to control herself. She wouldn’t press it if he didn’t want it. Intercourse or not, she wanted to kiss him even if it’s all she got that night.
Tia
Kord was momentarily surprised and the surge in his bio electric field scratched across her lips and through her body like sharp pins before receding into the more warm fuzzy tingle feeling as he leaned into Tia and wrapped her in his arms and kissed her deeply.
