And the doctor nodded in agreement as well, how strange that when on the Merrimack every human longed to go back to Earth and when they eventually did they realized that their true passion was among the stars.

“How sweet.” came a woman’s voice dripping with sarcasm, “and how sentimental.”

The young woman was tall and wiry, her dark hair and skin blending into the night. She was flanked by two athletic young men and all three of them had a look in their eyes that said that they were up to no good and that they had chosen the three women, who’d apparently wandered off the main thoroughfares, as their targets.

“I wonder what they’ll be worth.” one of the young men said.

“We get to keep one as out commission right?” Ask the other young man.

The first one punched the second one in the shoulder as the woman spoke.

Marthese turned around as the silence was shattered by the trio.

“You get to keep one instead of getting your cut,” she said, “But we’re still getting paid. The contract is for ten and we already have eight. I guess you’ll get the extra one. You can pick when we get them in the containers with the others.”

“I think I want that one.” the first man said pointing straight at Marthese.

It was the memories that tumbled one after the other, unfortunately she was used to such scenarios Fight or flight rang her brother’s words and now she stood her ground as the doctor let go of Faith’s and Tinga’s hands.

The anger was building up again, who would come nearer she had no idea but Marthese was prepared and determined what ever the out come.

Faith wondered where the hotel security were. These people must be guests? Faith thought. They have to be guests in this place? The only other people were the glacier tour guides, the langoustine-selling truck owners and zodiac boat tour operators… and the hotel staff.

If it came to violence then these strangers might get more than they bargained for. Tinga was a lot stronger than she might initially look, and she would naturally have her Ushaan-Tor, the Andorian ice miner’s tool, hidden somewhere about her person. As a young girl in the Sons of the New Earth, Faith herself had been taught boxing, as well as other forms of unarmed combat.

Tinga stepped back with a silent sneer, her hands automatically going beck to the Ushaan-Tor that were always with her.

Meanwhile, Beth and Karen were walking back to their rooms. They had noticed the three strangers with the look in their eyes. They saw them turn down a corridor ahead, in the direction that Tinga, Faith and Marthese had gone. That was odd, because Marthese had run off outside in a huff and there was nothing else there to be going to away from the main thoroughfares. So, they followed the tall, wiry woman and two athletic men discretely, at a distance. Beth took off her shoes and carried them so that they made no noise on the tiled floor. Karen was wearing soft soles.

“Up to no good?” whispered Beth as she hid around a corner.

Karen nodded in return but put a finger to her lips to indicate to her to remain quiet. She could hear them talking.

“I wonder what they’ll be worth.” one of the young men said.

We get to keep one as our commission right?” Ask the other young man.

The first one punched the second one in the shoulder as the woman spoke.

“We have to do something,” Beth whispered to Karen.

Karen made a pointing sign to Beth. Just as all hell was about to break loose, Beth ran back to the hotel reception to alert security. Karen thought, there is still 4 or 5 minutes before they will arrive! I need to do something more!

Beth urgently looked around for some inspiration. Back in the hotel corridor there had been a fire alarm point. She ran back and broke the glass. The sound began almost immediately.

  • Karen and Beth, Yeomen

Marthese ‘s lips twitched slightly but apart from that she stood still, her eyes never leaving the ’ twerp’ who had said that she was his. With her hair parted in the middle and neatly done in two thick long plaits while wearing a knitted cap with a pom pom on top, the doctor seemed to have dropped from a time gone by era.

Without the slightest indication she ran, jumping on the man’s knee and delivered an explosive blow upward striking him just under the chin. Some thing cracked but Marthese was too focused on landing back safely on the ground without falling and ready to give him another blow.....yes her brother had taught her well.

Marthese thought it was going to be easy. She was too engrossed in making her move that she never really saw what he did. What the others saw was as her heel came down on his leg he turned allowing the impact on the outside of his thigh. The crack was not her fist connecting with his chin but his hand slapping down on her fist intercepting the blow as he turned away from her impact and let her line of momentum continue and carry her away from him giving him, and the other two, time to pull stun batons.

The wiry woman smiled, “I love when they think we’re common thugs.” she said as they dropped into combat stances and began closing on their chosen targets.

“Remember not to damage them.” she called.

The woman was closing on Tinga, Man 1 was closing on Marthese, leaving man 2 to close on Faith. Marthese’s impromptu attack had put them on their guard.

As Tinga stepped forward and drew her Ushaan-tors she had the strong sense that the wiry woman would not be an easy opponent. She came in high on the right and low on the left all the while trying to stay out of reach of that stun baton. She wanted to scream to Faith that the woman should run for help but speaking didn’t seem like the right idea.

Faith did not think this was going to be easy; a street fight never was so predictable, but she had much more experience of this that people knew, as a result of her unusual upbringing. She had been a prisoner and been trafficked for sex work before, and she was never going to allow that to happen again. She was much younger then, now she was stronger, both physically and mentally. She knew that to avoid injury she needed to take her opponent out of the game quickly, and to do that she needed a sharp hit on his most vulnerable body parts. Faith was a boxing champion, and Krav Maga; a mixed-martial arts, combative and self-defense system, trained. She was skilled in boxing, judo, jujitsu, and aikido. Her opponent appeared to have what looked like a pointed stick. Bring it on! she thought.

As Marthese attempted to punch her assailant on the chin, and Tinga drew her Ushaan-Tor on the female leader, Faith stood her ground against the other man coming at her. Before he reached her the ear-splitting sound of the hotel fire alarms began.

  • Faith, Yeoman

As the alarm sounded the doctor took the opportunity to take her cell phone out =/\= Cross we are being attacked..Diamond beach =/\= then focused back on the man.

Cross had just done her shopping spree and was entering the academy ,she wasted no time in finding the Captain and CoS ,all they needed to do was get on the transporter pads at the academy .......... they would materialize in a few seconds at the said location.

Something about the way the three moved and held themselves made Faith’s instincts scream mercenaries. As the alarms went off, the three closed ranks back to back to back keeping the others in view.

“Easy come easy go.” said the dark woman with a smile before a silent golden transporter effect took them.

As they dematerialized, the one that wanted Marthese blew her a kiss and he was gone.

‘’Noooooooo ‘’ the doctor screamed as she made a dash towards the trio .Alas it was too late they had disappeared ,she fell to her knees ‘’They’ll find others’’ Marthese managed to say before putting both hands to hide her face.

Faith was angry, “Exactly! They are dangerous people. It’s the 24th Century! And people still exploit vulnerable people for financial gain! We have to have them caught!”

At that moment the cavalry arrived, in the form of Captain Glen and his officers, who had been told of the situation by Dr Cross.

  • Glen, CO

Nkosenye looked around trying to ascertain what had happened. “We are here. Where are the perpetrators?”

Nkosenye, CoS

Cross had heard Faith ‘’They are gone ‘’ she replied making her way to were marthese was ‘’Come now get up for the ship shall leave the docking area within a few hours’‘.

The CMO assisted her to rise up ‘’Maybe one day our paths shall cross with them again and we’ll have a better strategy to deal with them’‘.

Cross Dr.
