Rana was going into the sickbay as soon as the Andorran was leaving. He smiled, made a mental note to find out his name and walked on into sickbay where he saw a medical officer disappearing toward the CMOs office. “Hello!” he called out. Are you Doctor Cross? I’m here for my physical”

Cross stopped midway and looked behind her ,she saw a new recruit ‘’Yes I am Cross ,I suppose you are here for your medical ‘’ .The CMO then directed him too an empty bio-bed ‘’Hop on and make yourself comfortable ‘’ she smiled ‘’Mind telling me your name?’’ .

She could never understand why they came in for their medical and expect her to know their name and in which dept they had been assigned too.

Cross CMO.

” Certainly! Rana Rana replied as he hopped up onto the bio-bed. ” I will attempt to make myself comfortable doctor but I have never been one to relax when there is work to be done.” Then as she asked for his name he could only smile. ” My full name is Rana Ali George William Gupta Singh.” His eyes sparkled with humor as he apologized saying ,” You did ask Doctor .”

She quickly typed his name on the computer and realized he was the Cmdr ‘’ Your parents gave you a handful of names , maybe they couldn’t decide on which one’’ Cross commented.

” I will attempt to make myself comfortable doctor but I have never been one to relax when there is work to be done.” .

‘’I fully agree with you on this Cmdr ‘’ she replied ‘’ Oh and I am the CMO , difficult to tell when all medical personnel wear the same uniform’’ she attached the diagnostic wand to the medical tricoder and before Cross started to scan she had to ask the usual question ‘’Cmdr is there anything I should know beforehand ?’‘.

” Absolutely nothing you need to know I’m afraid doctor. ” Rana answered. ” Medically I am quite boring I’m afraid. I I have put many physicians to sleep I’m afraid.” Rana answered.

Hunter had just arrived he was about to walk over to Cross but seeing that she was in the middle of the mandatory medical he decided to wait before asking how she was holding up .

Cross actually laughed at what the Cmdr said ‘’Well before I fall asleep you’re cleared for duty ..welcome to the Merrimack’‘.

Rana sat up, jumped down off the bio-bed and said to Cross. I think you doctor and I look forward to working with you. If you need anything let me know. “

‘’You can bet on that ‘’ Cross replied without any hesitation and with a nod and ‘’Cmdr ‘’ she made her way to her office.

Hunter looked at Cross he had left her crying but she seem to be okay now …perhaps Joe had spoken to her .

‘’Two medicals in a row .I saw an Andorran on my way here and now him’’ he pointed at Rana as he was leaving sickbay ‘’. ‘’He’s the new Cmdr ‘’ the CMO informed the doctor ‘’ Would you guess he actually has three names Rana,George and William!’’ Cross exclaimed to which Hunter did that small smile of his .

‘’I believe the ship has entered the expanse as I felt a slight shift in my quarters ‘’, Cross nodded ‘’Here the lights dimmed and for brief moment the vital signs flickered on and off ‘’
Hunter rubbed at his chin ‘’Who knows what’s in store for us as the ship goes deeper inside the expanse’‘.

Cross was trying her best not to think about what could happen ,she decided to to do some paper work but found it hard to concentrate .Leaving her office she approached Hunter who’s eyes were fixed on a Padd he was holding as he did his ward rounds ‘’ Hunter ,I have this bad feeling about this mission there are so many unknowns ‘’.

The male doctor did not raise his eyes to look at her ‘’ Cross nearly every mission has its unknowns ‘’ he replied as a matter of fact ‘’Why don’t you go to the Dragon bar ,eat something , chill out , talk to Joe, just keep your mind off about what if’s ‘’.

‘’Some help you are! ‘’ Cross exclaimed , not realizing Hunter was being honest ‘’Maybe I should go back to the bridge and see what is happening ‘’ .This time Hunter looked directly at her ‘’ If you feel it will help but I don’t thing it’s a good idea ,you’ll only work yourself up into a frenzy .Cross you have been on the ship for years now surly the crew went through some difficult times ‘’ he thought it was most probably all of those hormones or she was agitated about the baby being safe.
