Ensign Steward left the medical bay and headed to the ready room. He walked up to the secretary. “I am Ensign Steward, I have completed my physical onboarding and meeting with my department head, the Chief Medical Officer, who told me to come here and meet with the Executive Officer and Captain.” He stated.

This ‘secretary’ looked at the Ensign ‘’ Well your first hurdle is over but you have to make an appointment to see both the Captain and Cmdr and I doubt the CMO told you to personally come here , she knows all too well that you need an appointment ‘’.

First of all, Faith wanted to know why the Captain had hired some kind of ‘Secretary.’ Faith Hopkins had been the Captain’s Yeoman and personal assistant since he had rescued Faith and her mother, Janice, who was also John Glen’s sister from Terra Nova. In fact she was furious.

Before she got to the bottom of it, she caught Ensign Steward before he left. “Sorry,” replied Faith, “The Captain and Commander are quite busy today meeting other new crew, but if you have a seat here then they will see you shortly. When they’ve finished with the new science officer, I’ll just need a few words with the Captain.”

“Well, thank you, she did say make an appointment, so that is what I was looking to do, I apologize for the confusion, I’m eager to begin working with her in sickbay, so I’m trying to get everything done.” He responded to them.

Faith then made her way over to this new ‘Secretary’ who she had never seen on the ship before. “Excuse me, but can I ask your name, rank and position exactly?”

She smiled ‘’I know Faith who you are , don’t worry I’m not any secretary .The Ensign being new still has to learn how things work around here .As for my rank and position , well you could say our work is similar with the difference that you are his Yeoman while I’m usually running around from one dept to the other .Rest assured that I have no contact with the Captain or Cmdr ‘’ .

“You do? Because I still don’t know who you are, but shouldn’t you be ticking off boxes in the Cargo Bays or something? And impersonating an officer, with intent to deceive is a serious offence in Starfleet,” Faith replied. “But I don’t need to call Security, right?”

Faith went to tell the Captain and XO anyway, about the strange secretary and the new officer waiting to be seen outside. Once Faith passed her exams she would be off this ship to Starfleet Medical, but until then there would be only one Captain’s Yeoman on the Merrimack.

After Elyse Zavey came out, the Captain called for Erik Steward to go in.

Ensign Steward thanked the officer “secretary” and the Yeoman for their help and apologized for his confusion, before answering the Captain’s summon. “I appreciate it sirs, but the Yeoman stated she wanted to talk to you first.” He said, and held the door open for her to enter the ready room.

Faith said, “It’s okay. It’s been explained now. I’ll speak to you about it later.” It appeared to have been an misunderstanding. That was all. “This is Ensign, Steward.”

“Thank you,” replied Glen, more than a little curious, but Faith was very nervous about her upcoming Starfleet Medical entrance exam.

“Hello, Ensign Steward,” said Captain Glen. “I believe you are joining us…” he checked his notes, “…today! We I hope we aren’t keeping you from anything more important. I just like to put a face to every new member of the crew.”
