Kahuna saw the lost Security officer, “You look lost?”

Cross walked over to were he was sitting her hands resting on the chair, face just a couple of inches away from Kahuna.

‘’That’s your opinion ,my sole aim is how to get our crew back safely while you are sitting on your pretty behind.Tell me what have you done to bring the power back ....I can answer that nothing!’’ the CMO exclaimed and she wasn’t finished yet ‘’Seniority? Really? Then why aren’t you the one asking questions here Captain , I’m sure Cara is doing her best but she’s an anthropologist. The right questions need to be asked, the Klingon’s may just laugh their head off or they may take pity on us and give us more in- debt information’‘.

Kahuna replied to Cross. “I have altered the orbit of the Merrimack. We are further away from the planet and power will be fully restored once the Warp engine is up to full capacity. Cara as a xenoanthropologist who understands Klingon culture better than anyone on this ship, and she speaks Klingon. In any kind of negotiation, it is better if a single person talks directly to another single person. It helps to understand the other person’s perspective, builds rapport and trust and helps communicate clearly and active listening.”

‘’I understand that but one needs to ask relevant questions ,how did they manage to get off? Could they have done it due to their ships ability to hide ?Any Romulan’s still on the planet?.’‘

The doctor glanced at the XO ‘’ Her? From what I’m seeing he’s a male in a catatonic state,probably thinking about stationed fights since its one of his hobbies and I don’t usually care for someone who has been idle. As for sickbay we already have taken care of the injured , that’s the reason I came over not to mention right now sickbay is not without a doctor and to jot your memory it was doctor Hunter who might have caused you distress …poor you’‘.

“I think you both did that actually,” Kahuna replied. “There always seems to be more doctors on the Bridge than in Sickbay, and according to my reports the injuries in Sickbay have only been triaged. Apparently, there were many slips and falls in the darkness. As for the XO, I’m sorry but I’ve lost track of how many we’ve had recently!”

‘’Don’t be so dramatic when the lights went out only some of the crew where injured,its not like the ship had been attacked and split in two’’ Cross rolled her eyes ‘’I believe Hunter came just on time ,as for doctor Kim you probably have to put a knife against his throat to get him here .Yes I do came to the bridge, do you have a problem with that? Who made contact here to see if any ships were in the vicinity and try to make contact?…guess you know who’‘.

“No communications or sensors were possible until we changed orbit,” replied Kahuna. “That could happen only once I took command of the ship. Give me a break! There was just the two of us here since you left with the engineer and the barman, three if you count that stiff over there, until Cara came up here and made it four! Have you tried operating all the Bridge stations with two people?”

’’ Cara I’m sorry to have interrupted you, do you mind if I stay near you and hear what the Klingon’s say that is if they are willing to to offer anything?’‘.

“That’s fine with me,” Cara replied, “but didn’t you just ask them how they make whoopee with themselves?”

‘’And don’t ask the security if he’s lost , Morris have been helping to get an injured crewman from the Jeffries tubes ,he’s done more in the time he’s boarded the ship then you have ever done ‘’, said Cross.

“Harrumph!” was Kahuna’s only reply.

Now she moved over to Cara ‘’ I’m sorry ,it was not my intention to take control over you but we need to know how the Klingon’s got back from the planet to their ship and any relevant information that could aid us in bringing our team back safely ,I know they enjoy taunting us its their specialty ‘’.

“That is a very human attitude!” Cara replied. In Cara’s own society prey-driven or competition-driven behaviours were also quite natural.

Cross was surprised she was not in the bridge cell for having attacked Kahuna ‘’Guess I’m getting old ‘’ she muttered to herself.

Cross realized the Klingon’s were gone ‘’No surprise there , guess it’s up to the landing party now as I cannot see how we can help .Lt Kahuna I would appreciate if you keep me informed ‘’ there was nothing more to add and the doctor simple left the bridge .

“For sure! I will provide regular updates as they happen, when I receive any further information myself,.” Kahuna replied. “Take the XO with…” but she was gone!

“Okay! Let’s see if we can locate the source of the signals! We could take up different positions and triangulate from those?” kahuna asked.

Morris watched the exchange between Cross and Kahuna like a ping pong match until Cross dramatically exited the bridge. Once things had settled slightly, Morris responded to Kahuna, “Hello, sir, sorry ‘bout all that. My name’s Clifford Morris, just transferred in. I see you’re in a bit of a jam and would be happy to lend a hand sir”

Morris took a moment to consider the officer’s words about the dampening field. “Perhaps if we send out some probes, we could monitor when then shut off and lose contact and then based on that, have a general map of the dampening field. Then science might be able to analyze the difference between the sections of space and perhaps find a way of detecting the field more accurately with our sensors. Might even be able to find a way of either neutralizing the field or at least shielding the ship from it to allow us to get closer to orbit.”

Clifford Morris - Security

“That’s an excellent idea,” Kahuna replied. “I wish I’d thought of it! We have plenty of probes in stock. We can send them out in different directions and monitor them until we lose contact with them. Hopefully, it isn;t just a bubble around the entire planet but isolated from a particular place. We are short handed on the Bridge, so if you can tale a station rather than taking up the usual position standing by the Turbolift, then that would be very welcome, yes please… you can send the probes from the science station, and follow it through since it’s your idea.”

“Aye sir,” Morris said with a nod as he went to the science station. He checked the log to see the coordinates of the landing party and launched 4 probes towards the planet, each spaced out in a grid pattern, targetted on the hemisphere of the planet that should be housing the landing party. Based on these initial results, he could expand the probe search to get a more ideal understanding of the dampening field.

While they waited for the results back from the probe, Kahuna had the XO transported to Sickbay. =/\= Sickbay. This is the Bridge. Prepare for the Emergency STS Transport of Commander Roger Sanks. =/\=

Doctor Kim.

The probes went out equal distance and above the area where the landing party went down. Once they reached a distance just before what would have been a ship entering a geosynchronous orbit they blinked out as any signals from them stopped being sent.
