More time passed and no one had entered sickbay ‘’ Might as well relax cause…’’ Cross did not had time to finish the sentence when a crewman came running in out of breath ‘’ Someone is stuck in one of the Jeffrey tubes. I tried to help but realized one of the tools he was using has penetrated his side and he’s bleeding ‘’.

‘’On our way’’ Cross replied without hesitation.

Upon hearing this, Faith gazed over at Kate and gave her a look. Leaving Sickbay to climb Jeffries Tubes in the dark, with nothing but unshielded candles, seemed like a recipe for more injuries, but you could never stop Cross from doing what she had in her head. Her impulsiveness might make her dangerous sometimes, but she got things done. Faith continued caring for the existing patients and hoping that the lights would come back on soon.

Cross followed the man, he was holding a torch ‘’He’s in there’’ he pointed to an open entry to one of the tubes .Cross could see the injured crew was more then half way down the ladder . She shone the light and peered inside ‘’ Hey I’m a doctor are you hurt ? Do you think you can make it out ?’‘.

‘’N..n..no I’m injured a screwdriver penetrated my side ..t..the lights went off I fell …’’ Cross could hear his heavy breathing the poor guy was clearly in a lot pain ‘’ Don’t move I’m coming up ‘’.

Since the injured man was on his side ,there was enough space for Cross to go inside the tube .Pulling the stethoscope from around her neck ,after assessing the situation the CMO listened to his breathing which she could already tell he was having a hard time breathing.

‘’The screwdriver has penetrated your lung and partially collapsed your lung thus the difficulty in breathing .Do you have any chest pain’’ she asked to which the man nodded ,meanwhile Cross checked for blush skin, nails and lips to which were normal.

‘’Hey ‘’ she called out from inside the tube to the other crew member ‘’Go to sickbay ,find the nursing officer tell her I have a pt with Pneumothorax and an injury from a screwdriver ..she’ll know what I need and bring them here on the double ‘’.

Taking the torch with him, both where on their side left in the dark , the doctor tried to reassure him while cursing in her native language for building a star ship without any stairs!.

‘’I think I have to give another lecture at the academy this time about the need for stairs’’ the patient chuckled though he ended up coughing ‘’Are you Cross? ‘’ he whispered ‘’I have heard about you but never actually met you..I’m Steve ‘’.
