USS Merrimack
Ready Room: Reporting In before Mission
Posted by Captain John Tiberius Glen (Captain) in Ready Room: Reporting In before Mission
[snip]With the rush in preparing for the mission and getting out to the Unity System, M’Mera’s reporting in to the CO had been delayed. She finally had her security team and assignments squared away so she made her way up from the bowels of the ship to Deck 1. It really was the bowels of the ship, all the way down on Deck 14. She liked it though, it felt like a den.
She twitched her whiskers in amusement at the thought as the turbolift doors whooshed open and deposited her on the bridge. She checked her uniform before exiting and made her way over to the Ready Room doors. She nodded to the officer of the watch before she hit the button to signal to the Captain that she was at his door. Her tail twitched back and forth in nervousness, she had seen the Captain around the ship and nodded to him but this would be her first actual conversation with him.
“Come!!” said the Captain as he continued looking for a Padd he had dropped under the desk in his rush to get ready to leave for the Transporter Room. He knew that the landing party would be waiting for him. When he saw M’Mera at the door he frowned. “With two Catians on the ship now, I’m going to have to get Lt. Mullins to enlarge all the doors aren’t I? Welcome to the Merrimack!”
M’Mera blinked slowly as she was hit by the barrage of words as soon as she stepped through the door. This was obviously a man in charge. She looked at him curiously, what she could see of him, as he rose from under his desk, padd in hand. He looked like a typical human male. Not very tall, only a few inches over her height, but he looked fit. His eyes were very piercing though and she thought he probably saw everything.
“Thank you, ssirrr.” She purred in her Caitian accent.
Glen had found the missing Padd and was ready to leave. “I think you are on Mullins shuttlecraft team, but you can walk with me to the Turbolift and we can talk on the way.”
“Aye ssirrr.” She said back stepping quickly so the Captain could exit his office. “I wass told that I wass to report to the Shuttlebay but I thought I ssshould rreport in quickly firrsst.”
“Are you quite settled in? Anything you require? Have you met Cara Meow?” Glen asked as he walked to the door.
“I am settled in, yesss sssir. I have been down to the arrmorry and met all my men. Therrre iss nothing I rrequirre ass of yet and no, I have not had the honorr to meet Carra Meow, the otherr Caitian I take it?”
“Yes, she is,” Glen replied. “A Science officer.”
M’Mera said feeling out of breath as she followed the Captain to the turbolift. She was in excellent shape, given her daily work outs but the Captain moved quickly and she wasn’t used to talking this much exercising or otherwise. She preferred to access situations quietly before acting.
“And you’ve been to Sickbay had your medical?” Glen asked. “It’s only necessary because we once had an officer join the ship who was immediately sent on a landing party, and then what do you know, we find out they had pre-existing medical conditions that had to be then treated on the planet surface. Doctor Cross went ballistic!”
“I have indeed, ssirr.” M’Mera chuckled. “I wass given as clean bill of health.”
“And you’re finding your way around the ship okay? I’m sorry but it wasn’t built with Caitians in mind. Cara Meow has complained to me about the size and shape of corridors and doors, but I had no hand in the design, and you seem as little more petite than she is… Anyway, this is where we have to part company… the Transporter Room is this way and the Shuttle is that way. I’ve put Lt. Mullins, the CE, in charge of your mission but like you, he is also new to the ship so don’t give him a hard time.”
- Glen, CO
“I have had no trrouble getting ussed to the ship sso farr, ssirr. Otherr then the chairrs.” She added with a feline grin. “Aye ssirr, good luck and I won’t.”She said as she headed toward the indicated direction of the shuttle bay.
