Now in sickbay - Cross laid down on the bed as the N.O switched on the 4D ultrasound ‘’ How many weeks? ‘’ Kate asked ‘’Em about 12 weeks’’ she replied . Her heart started racing ,though she so much had waited for this moment the female doctor knew only too well what could go wrong to the unborn child.

‘’Oh Joe I need you’’ she murmured to herself.

Joe had slid from bed with the intention of giving Miri a quick kiss at least, only to see nothing but her backside before his feet even hit the floor. He scratched his head, yawned and said out loud to himself. ” I guess I could consider that a very definite heck yes. ” Joe searched around for his clothing and quickly got dressed. He hadn’t been doing much at the bar the previous day, so he wasn’t smelling particularly ripe yet. All this being said he shrugged and pulled everything together and nearly ran in the direction of sickbay.

He felt the entire thing was a female trap to ensnare him like some poor bunny and place him at the mercy of the trappers. He was just as anxious about the baby as anyone was. but it seemed that when it came to such matters women seemed to sell men short. Miri could have awakened him up after all. But by the time he did get to sickbay he was feeling better again and more like a prospective dad instead of a rodent stuck in a trap. Upon entering he found Miri and either with or against her wishes leaned over to give her a quick kiss on her forehead and a squeeze of her hand. He then turned his attention toward Kate and what she was doing.

Cross just grabbed his hand tightly, there on the screen was her baby kicking and pulling at the umbilical cord ,the CMO felt a lump in her throat and her eyes welled with tears .

Kate started to check the fetus and how it was developing , she turned to the mother and father ‘’ Its normal there are no anomalies , from now on the baby will just grow and put on weight ‘’.
Cross being a doctor was also analyzing ,the heart beat and blood supply from her to the baby ,she then smiled and looked at Joe ‘’ All is well, just remind me what name you had chosen for our boy ?’‘.

Joe just kept his counsel for the moment as he squinted at the image. It seemed to be a blurry, white, blob. He looked down at Miri with a curious look on his face before he looked back up at the screen. As soon as he heard that all was well, he breathed out and relaxed a bit although normal looked to be a bit strange to him. He had to hold back all the questions bouncing about in his mind. He remembered his cousin’s advice and heeded it in this moment. Suddenly though the little blob started moving. This only served to make Joe a bit queasy and he looked down at Miri to see if she was alright. To see if this were normal. The idea of someone having something crawling around inside of them had always given him a creepy feeling. He didn’t know how women did it. Something crawling inside of them!

It was then though. A head appeared. Joe squinted and tried to focus a bit better on the screen when little legs and arms started to act up. After staring a moment Joe laughed out loud and said,” Look at him! He’s getting ready play football for the Chicago Bears!” He turned to Miri and said simply,” He’s a Liam he is no matter what I said before!”

OOC: with a 4D ultrasound one can see the fetus as if you are looking at him through a clear glass :)

” Look at him! He’s getting ready play football for the Chicago Bears!”.
Cross looked at Joe wondering how he’s brain is wired up ,then at the mention of the name Liam she bit on her lower lip ‘’ Liam? I think you have just changed the name from the previous one.I hope you’re not going to keep on changing it every month’‘.

Kate stood by quietly ,pretending to focus on getting some photos from the ultrasound machine to give to the parents and wondering what this relationship was like with Cross and Joe . She guessed Hunter was right about not wanting any drama in his life and she should perhaps follow his line of thinking and stay single.

Joe peered again at the blob and turned to Miri with a frown on his face .” What? Change every month? Look at him! That’s a Liam if I ever seen one.!”

Cross finally realized that Joe’s favorite team were these ‘Chicago Bears’ and someone by that name must in Joe’s mind be a good player or whatever.

‘’Very well then its Liam ‘’ she replied taking the photos that Kate had handed to her ,she looked down at them and her eyes welled up ‘’love you Liam ‘’ the doctor said before kissing the pictures ,then handed the father one of the photos.

‘’Thanks Kate ‘’ she told the N.O before pulling her tunic down and got off the bed ‘’I’ll shall be in my office ‘’.

Joe seeing this gave up all the more celebratory behavior. Gone was the silliness as now there was an entirely different look that replaced it. Joe moved close to Miri hand and placed his over hers. ” No, no Miri, He might play a bit of sport, but we’ll put an end to that nonsense before he gets too old. We let him go down a path like that he might wind up doing something silly like becoming a red shirt in star fleet.” Joe smiled and kissed Miri’s hand then before he went on saying. ” And we can’t let him follow the path of his halfwit father now, can we?” No, we’re going to name him Liam Paul. Liam because I like it and Paul for your saint. “

Cross looked at Joe as if he had just sprouted two antennas from his scalp ‘’Oh so now its Liam Paul, if you keep on with this by the time the baby is born he’ll have half a dozen names ‘’.

’’ Liam because I like it and Paul for your saint. “.

‘’Eh? ‘’ the CMO was confused by the last sentence , though it did not take her long to realize the meaning .She shook her hand as if there was a dozen flies buzzing around ‘’Who believes in that nonsense in this time and age …it was just a legend nothing more and ‘’ she went on ‘’We can only advice and guide him , it would be up to our son as to what career he’ll decide to pursue …not what mummy and daddy want’‘.

Joe looked at the picture again and then back at Cross. ” No, he’ll follow in his mother’s footsteps and become a doctor. And if he ever strays from that course, I’ll kick him straight back to a good proper course.”
