A soft sigh came from the ensign, he had finally found the office. The ship was massive and he hadn’t had a chance to study it’s layout before boarding. Marshall took the chance by asking around and an hour later he finally found it.He pressed the doorbell, waiting patiently for the approval to enter. finally he was here, it took way to long in his opinion but he was here finally.

Science OfficerLance had been weighing up a very difficult choice, crew performance reports procrastinating on crew performance reports with another game of sudoku. Reports… sudoku....reports.... sudoku he weighed the choices in his mind, most of the reports were done, he was bored or repetitive tasks he needed to feed his brain a distraction. Counting to 9 was currently the perfect distraction, especially as he got the computer to time him.
He was about to start counting to nine when the door chimed. Saved by the bell he thought. “Come in..... Unless it’s Crewman Wilkes and you’re telling me the green stuff had melted through another flask… Then you need to go very far away…” Lance called, quickly adding a caveat based on the person who’d already disturbed him five tonnes today.

Marshall stepped in, smoothing out the wrinkle in his shirt before speaking. “Hi yes, I am the New Science Officer, Ens Ryder.” He was a fairly young man, though the haunted look in his eyes was not missed. It was like watching a scared puppy who was trying to be so brave.
“I was told to report when I made it onto the ship.” Marshall rambled slightly, using that time to take in the office around him. Anything, he was looking for anything that they could relate on.

Lance had a sudden oh heck! moment. It was that day already! He’d lost a day somewhere again. He stood up suddenly “Yes of course I was totally expecting you.” He was expecting a new office but he was sure he had several days. He probably had the new officers details somewhere on his desk. Which was full of data pads, and pieces of paper, books, more data pads, there may have been a system but it currently looked like organised chaos. There was a tower of note books and paper held in place by a leather oval shaped ball.
The rest of the office was Spartan in comparison to the desk. There were a few photos on the wall one appeared to be from the Lt’s Academy days whilst others were of a polar landscape and strange lookin be plants.
“Welcome aboard Ensign Ryder, take a seat.” He said offering him a chair. “Sorry about that, we currently have a crewman who has be SEP’d and he seems intent on trying to cause some sort of disaster or another.”
“I hope you had a decent trip out to us.” Lance moved some of the bits of paper on his desk hoping to find the paperwork he needed. “So… It’s this your first posting?”
