Cross was sitting with her legs crossed on the bed staring at an imaginable dot ,she was thinking and wondering on how to approach the subject with Joe with regards to the baby . Sure it was still early weeks but if all goes well and the child is born Cross knew that they would not be allowed to keep the baby on the ship....it was against the Federation’s policy and established rule.

She waited for him to return from the bar and hopefully could discuss their plan.

Upon Joe’s return he walked in carrying a bowl of something warm and pleasant smelling and sat it down on the table next to Miriam’s bed. Before she could ask, he smiled and said, ” Lentil vegetable soup. It makes you healthier than you should be.” Then he opened his other hand and opened it setting a small statue of two frolicking little angels. ” And Joe continued, no mom and kid can go without a guardian angel or two.”

She eyed the soup and then the angels ‘’But ..but I’m not hung....’’ Cross stopped in mid sentence and decided to eat the soup ,after all Joe had gone out of his way to care for her and she did not want to disappoint him ‘’The angels are cute thanks ‘’.
Her quarters were completely void of any miscellaneous items, personal novelties ,decorations,ornaments or photos but she thought the statue looked nice by her bed side table.

Joe then leaned in and kissed Miri on her forehead and frowned before he asked her.” You look as though you’ve been pondering a bit too much what is it?”

At times she thought Joe could read her mind ‘’Well now that you have mentioned it I was actually thinking about your family ,would they accept to take care of our child’’ and since she had never met them was also curious and needed to know what kind of persons they where .

Joe smiled and sat back with an amused frown on his face. ” I thought we had talked about it but evidently you want particulars. So very well. My mother, bless her gave birth to six children. Four boys and two girls. The oldest was my brother Patrick. That’s where my widowed mother lives are with Pat and his wife Pat and his wife have five children of their own. One who has left to college and the rest still at home. They love when relatives visit and they’re thinking of adopting. It drones on like that, Joe said. My next is my older sister Brianna her and her husband only have three kids. Bridgette has five, and then there is my brother Liam. he and his wife only have one. Something happened to her when she had the first. ” Joe smiled one of his smiles then as he said. ” They said they’d watch the child if it’s green and has horns. And to tell you the truth so would the rest . And well my mom wants another grandchild, she’s warned the family that her new grandchild had best smile in her arms first in the earth family. ”

Joe then chuckled and rested. ” And as for the stats on Liam he works as an agricultural specialist and advisor. Then of course his wife Jeannie is a nurse. Joe just sat back then awaiting Miri’s response.

Cross listened attentively and as Joe spoke her eyes grew wider and wider ,when he was done Miriam could not help but exclaim ‘’Your family is making sure the human species don’t became extinct!’’ then smiled and kissed Joe on the cheek .
‘’Its reassuring to know that our child would be taken care off ‘’ and for now that was all that mattered.
