Amazingly Joe had been a really up mood of late. Just the fact that St. Patrick’s Day had come, and he had had the green Orion girl as a helper had made the silly goose have the giggles all through the day. She was though a gift. He still didn’t know yet who from, but she was a gift. She learned. to do things quickly and with glee. She acted enthusiastic about nearly everything. Joe had begun to wonder about the growth and aging rate on Orions. She acted as if she were a very intelligent child. Often clamming her hands and smiling when she did things.

Cross came in and was quick to pick up Joe’s good mood,looking around and not seeing Hunter there , she could not help but smile knowing the two would never get along.
Nothing D’Nesh helping Joe dressed in a modest pink dress though still with colorful ribbons tied to her hair ,the female doctor’s thoughts went back in time.

Things had slacked off after their first few days but that was to be expected. Sometimes people drifted in sometimes not. . At the moment Joe and D’Nesh had cleared out the place from breakfast and had gotten lunch ready. There was a special on Guiness of course. and the sandwiches being offered up were ham and Swiss on wheat or rye or Corned beef sandwiches.

‘’Joe when I was her age I had just graduated from medical school …how time pass and what about you what where you doing age twenty two? ‘’ for a moment the CMO realized how little they knew about each other’s past .

With both hands resting on the bar Cross told him she came for lunch ‘’Oh and I don’t need to eat for two ‘’ she joked.
D’Nesh heard her order ‘’ Food for ‘Red Eyes ’ coming up ‘’.

Cross twitched her nose ‘’ Guess I’m one of those red Indians who give each other another name ‘’ she said with a hint of humor in her voice.

Joe laughed and replied to Cross by saying, ” The American Indians were given names for whatever might be appropriate. They were given names at birth usually cute ones that would change or not. Like maybe where you’re from if you were born when the tide was going out your mom might name you Running Tide .”

‘’In which case D’Nesh nailed it with ‘Red Eyes’,cause a cute little baby girl was born with an unusual eye color ‘’ .

Joe then paused to think over carefully what he might wanted to tell Cross about what he was doing at age twenty. He could do a lot of editing to make it sound better but if they did do the whole ring thing. Well, it would be best to get everything out into the open. ” When I was twenty, ” he began as he drummed his fingertips on top of the bar. ” Let me see at the beginning of that year I was arrested and charged with drunk and disorderly conduct. They dropped the assault charge since no one could say for sure who threw the first punch. It wasn’t the first time something like that had happened so when I got out of jail my dad gave me a strong lecture about where the door to his house was and how to use it. ” Joe smiled at the memory of his dad standing there with his own fists clenched. ” It was then my mum showed me the schedules to go take the entrance exams for the fleet.

Cross whose arms were on the bar put a hand under her chin giving Joe her full attention.

” Let me see at the beginning of that year I was arrested and charged with drunk and disorderly conduct’‘.
One eyebrow shot up ,then heard the rest ‘’I bet when your father caught you, your feet did not touch the ground .At least you had you’re parents to guide you ‘’ her face stayed neutral as she fixed her gaze on him ‘’I only had grandpa ‘’.

Hunter had just found out from Kate that Cross was pregnant ,sitting alone his thoughts were on what he had said to both Joe and Cross when he found they where planning on having a baby .How the N.O was so exited when she told him ‘’Isn’t that wonderful,I’m so happy for them!’’ she had exclaimed and now lost in his thoughts he was ashamed of himself ....the way he acted,the words he said.

The male doctor grabbed his guitar and headed to the Dragon bar .On entering he made no eye contact with anyone ,especially Joe and Cross, sat on a stool at the end of the bar and hit some strings .Clearing his voice Hunter spoke ‘’I dedicate this song to two special persons ,who unbeknown to them showed me what true love really means..something that I have never experienced ‘’ he felt a lump in his throat.

D’Nesh had heard the music instrument and looked at the person who she called a beast.

with his head lowered and his long hair hiding most of his face ,Hunter continued…

At this point the young Orion woman approached standing right next to him.With a somewhat trembling hand she parted his hair.
Hunter gazed at her for a moment while giving her that small smile of his before continuing.

‘’If only tears were laughter

Then we would hear God say ‘’

Cross locked eyes with Joe while slipping her hand over his ‘’ Guess its the only true way he can express himself’’ she whispered.

D’Nesh started to sway a little....

Joe stood there unable to believe whatever this was going on with Hunter. It was all he could do to keep from laughing. Joe looked over at Cross and saw that she was taking him at least partially seriously. He decided then that he would be a good guy and try not to fall over laughing at least. Joe thought idly that only with Miri’s hand on his and with her taking Hunter seriously could he have gone to the lengths that he did not to laugh. All Hunter need do from the beginning was to do his job. And now here he was serenading them. Joe turned to Cross and merely smiled as he nodded his head. ’ What a crazy universe it is!’ he thought to himself.
