Cross along with Kate who was carrying a pile of female’s clothes entered the Dragon bar she glared at Joe ,then looked around for the Orion female who by the look of things was happily eating blueberry crepes ..both women approached her .Kate spoke first ‘’ Hi D’Nesh how are feeling this morning ?’’ the Orion looked up and smiled she had blueberry smudged around her mouth ‘’Joe made them for me he’s nice now ‘’ was her simple response. ‘’ Look I have brought you nice and decent clothes to wear ,we are your friends now and what you use or make made you do is in the past ‘’ D’Nesh frowned apparently she did not quite understand but was elated to see the clothes which Kate had put them on an empty chair ‘’They are all yours now to take to your cabin’‘.

Cross on the other hand was thinking *Huh he even made her blueberry crepes while he did not even care to say good morning to me when he rushed in sickbay and took her away without my permission! *

The CMO sat next to her ‘’D’Nesh why do you think the doctor is a beast ?’’ Cross asked ‘’ Cause..cause he got angry , got hold of Joe’s shirt and pulled him’’ she replied licking her fingers ‘’Why did he do that ?Do you know? ‘’ the young female shrugged her shoulders and pointed at Joe ‘’I heard him say Miri , to look after her for a baby ..I think ‘’ Cross took a deep breath while putting a hand over her shoulder’’ Good girl just help Joe ‘’.

Now she stood up and headed towards the father to be ‘’ Can’t keep a promise eh,you had to tell Hunter!’’ Cross then turned to Kate who seemed to want to be anywhere but standing there ‘’ Tell me Kate what he told you ‘’ and with barley a whisper she replied “Just take care of her and tell Hunter he should be more worried about what might happen to himself ‘’.

The female doctor told Kate to leave and once he did turned to Joe ‘’ We need to hold a meeting ,I do not expect you and Hunter to be best buddies that will never happen but you took a dislike to him the first time you saw him in sickbay .The only thing you two have in common is the capability of being ignited by your explosive temper ‘’.

Cross CMO.

” Joe looked at Miri and said quite simply. ” No, we do not need to have a meeting. You and I are here right now. I’ve not done anything to be sorry for or be concerned about. I was only looking after the health of my child and the woman I love. Your mister Hunter is an alleged doctor on this ship, and he’s supposed to be a good one. I repeat his job here is as a physician. If he can’t do his job, then get rid of him. Hit him in the head and toss him in an empty torpedo tube is something I’d recommend.” Joe then turned away from Miri and walked back into the food prep area and soon appeared with another plate of blueberry crepes which he sat in front of Cross. ” Here your sugar is low or something. ” He said.

Cross listened without disturbing him ,when Joe brought her the crepes she thanked him and started eating in silence .Half way through she put the fork down and looked directly at her partner ‘’ Joe if I decide that a meeting is warranted neither you nor Hunter can stop me .This time I’ll let it go ,as for the male doctor he treats his patients with compassion and not only is he a dutiful and valued doctor but also an excellent surgeon. As I said before your characters clash ,not to mention both of you have the ability to irk me though in different ways ‘’ with that said she started eating and said no more until the plate was empty.

Joe then said as he tapped his fingers on the counter. ” Look Miri I’m not in Starfleet anymore. The only things I have to do is to treat people the way they deserve to be treated. He then nodded toward D’Nesh and said to Miri ,” In one day he’s frightened this poor thing to death turned your sick bay into a madhouse and caused trouble between the two of us. I don’t trust him anymore. I’m sure we can find someone else to look after you who isn’t going to stress you out. Personally, I’d rather have the Dentist care for you. “

‘’I have just explained to you what had unfolded and you still think it was all Hunter’s fault , I beg to differ for you my darling played a part in it too ..so from now on just treat him as any crew member no more no less ,I shall speak to him as well and just for the record I gave birth to our son alone while those creepy species waited to pick up the baby the second it was born....so I did it once I can do it again you don’t have to worry about it ,its not going to happen tomorrow there is still eight months to go that is if everything goes as planned’‘.

Cross felt tired all she wanted was to go to her quarters and sleep but there was still hours until her shift ended.

Joe laughed and looked at Miri. ” Well, I thank you for giving me permission to treat him like anyone else. Now I know that the next time he lays his hands on my I can break his jaw. Which is what I wasn’t doing earlier out of respect to you. Joe sat listening to Miri and started to grow angrier by the moment. Well, there you go then. And to think I was not only here but was worried. ” .

‘’That’s not what I meant Joe ‘’ Cross replied ‘’ That’s the very thing I’m afraid off , either one of you end up in sickbay or both of you in the bridge cell which would make the Captain wanting an explanation as to what is happening on his ship ‘’.

Joe left quickly to get a bar towel and he started to once cleaner the bar top. although it seemed as if he were going about, it as if he were mounting an assault rather than cleaning an already clean bar. He then sighed and from the palm which had held the bar towel he produced a small box and lay it down in front of Miri on the bar. ” Well then, I suppose you won’t be needing this after all because if you think I’m the sort of man who can put all thoughts of his wife and child from his mind then you don’t know me, and I doubt you ever will. “

She looked down at the box then at Joe ‘’Please don’t leave me ‘’ Cross whispered.

He had said it all with a blank expression and a bland voice. He finally reached across the bar and said in a whispery voice to Miri .” I’m sorry I can’t do that. You’re just wanting me to abandon you and I can’t do that. I can be your friend I suppose. But I think no further unless you can stop judging me for what I did by accident. And now wanting me to do it on purpose. ”

‘’Abandon me, why Joe why? What have I done or said to make you doubt my loyalty to you? ‘’ .

She saw him leaving approaching the Orion female not even caring to answer her ..maybe Hunter was right after all .She did not believe him then but now it seemed it wasn’t that far fetched.

Joe then came out and started to walk around the bar explaining to D’Nesh how things work.

D’Nesh was totally engrossed in the clothes Kate had brought ‘’ Look Joe isn’t this pretty ‘’ she squealed, putting the dress against her body and moved rhythmically ,typically following a set sequence of steps .
