USS Merrimack
Checking in - Xavier's Medical
A new ship meant certain things were unavoidable. Finding room to place your personal items in a quarters that was always too small, forgetting which deck the mess hall was in, realizing you forgot to buy extra underwear.
Some things, of course, were unavoidable but were also always the same. Hitting the Big Red One in the turbolift to go to the bridge for instance, was one of them. So was boarding for the first time and having the Officer on Duty, who was always an Ensign three years past the time they should have been promoted and had a chip on their shoulder large enough to hold a coffee cup, scrutinizing your boarding Orders like you were a Romulan agent here to steal Starfleet’s secrets and only they could prevent it.
Another of those always the same but unavoidable things was the Medical clearance required before you could begin Duty on board the ship. Xavier stepped inside the medical ward as the doors slid shut behind him, pretty sure that he wasn’t carrying a particularly strong form of Klingon Herpes that would put the ship into quarantine, or any form of Klingon Herpes for that matter. But here he was anyway.
Still off-Duty until he checked in with the XO, Xavier wore his civilian clothes. Comfortable and cool, he could set up his quarters and attend his medical without needing to wear his Starfleet clown clothes just yet. sliding his hands into the pockets of the sleeveless vest he was wearing he looked around, smiled at a nurse or two and tried to pick out what doctor would be with him shortly while moving towards a small waiting area near the entrance.
