(Open thread, feel free to join if you like)The morning after the Merrimack had arrived at Deep Space K-5 and Xavier had met a number of the crew at the Green Dragon Tavern, Xavier was up early as was his habit. The bulk of his personal effects were long since held in the stations cargo area waiting to be loaded onto the Merrimack and taken to his quarters, if they hadn’t been already. At his side or, more accurately, over his shoulder, was a duffle bag of his personal effects that he had decided to keep with him while on the station.
His official check-in time was still a day away but, as was his habit, arriving and getting set up early tended to make things less rushed and lower the pressure that one put on themselves. Thus Xavier found himself on the way to the docking bay to board and get himself settled when he passed a small stand on the stations promenade that was serving fresh coffee to other early risers like himself.
Drawn by the smell of fresh black gold like a siren drew her victims to their demise with her song, Xavier was soon seated at one of the café tables. Duffle bag on the ground beside him and a large steaming cup of black coffee in hand, he sipped at the drink and looked at the other people around him, wondering if any of the people at the Green Dragon the previous night were nursing sore heads. His own head was just fine, he knew his limits and hadn’t been drinking to get drunk but enjoy himself before shipping out. There had been an array of characters at the Tavern the previous night, and he hadn’t spoken to them all.
Now, unlike the previous night, Xavier was dressed in uniform that revealed he was a Science Officer holding a Lieutenant Rank. He sipped at the hot drink without any rush, he had all day realistically. A growl in his stomach reminded him he hadn’t had breakfast either and he paused to look around at the selection of food stalls. He often forgot to eat, especially in the morning when coffee was life.

The CSO would hear someone whistle a long forgotten tune outside and see the male doctor passing by ,clutching the small bag which had his uniform in ,as he changed those for the clothes he was still wearing .....his white shirt with gold buttons and black trousers for the date he had with Sara the previous night. Hunter had another bag in his hand full of glass jars of his favorite coffee .
He glanced inside and was surprised to see the Xavier now dressed in his uniform and did not hesitate to walk over at his table ‘’Zavier I believe? ‘’ he asked extending a hand ‘’ Hunter , the guy who was suppose to have died yesterday , on which ship are you on as the CSO?’’ he asked notably curious .
Hunter Dr.
Lance was lost, Lance being lost was not an unusual thing, in fact it was a far too common occurrence. He was searching for his latest posting, he’d spent most of the morning searching. So far he’d found the wrong shop twice and was hoping for third time lucky, but he wasn’t hopeful. His sense of direction was not great, in fact it was hopeless this was probably why he’d never become a helmsman, at least he only had himself to get lost and not an entire ship.
His wandering had taken him past a café, the smell of coffee filled his nose reminding him of his last posting, he had been part of a team doing long term research at a science station, and his team had pretty much run on the bean. He had enjoyed that job and he had only just learnt the layout of the station after three years, but someone in Star Fleet had decided he needed to be based on a starship. Since his new orders had arrived he’d been questing the foresight of the fleet higher-ups.
As he came nearer he spotted two other Star Fleet officers, the station was full of them he usually ignored them too caught up in his own little world, but normally he wasn’t looking for a ship. The tall blonde man paused and picked up a menu to appear to gaze down its list but in reality he was hoping to find out which shop they were crew on and then perhaps get directions to the USS Merrimack.

“Good morning Hunter,” Xavier smiled and stood in greeting, accepting the handshake from the unusually tall doctor. “I’m glad to see that you managed to survive your bout of poisoning,” he joked, “care to take a seat and join me for coffee? Guaranteed to purge the remaining chemical out of your system and replace any lost sleep from enjoyable dates with pure energy.”
Sitting back down, Xavier hadn’t noticed or, rather, taken much attention of the other tall officer nearby who was looking over one of the cafe’s menus. “Funny you should ask, Doctor,” Xavier paused to drink from his cup, but he didn’t put it down when he had finished the sip, just leaned back and placed his left ankle over his right knee in a casually relaxed motion. “I’ve been assigned to the Merrimack, I was on my way to board her when I was accosted by these infernal aromas and had to sell my soul to the demon lord of coffee. Considering I’m a day early for boarding I figured I have some time to spare but, one is nothing if not punctual. How was your date last night, by the way? I hope that special mix from Joe didn’t have a lingering effect?”
