The doctor took the first blood sample from the area next to the bacteria and did so again from her arm .He made sure to mark and pack them in place as any bio- hazard established code protocol .

Cara noticed the stickers he had applied to the sample bottles. “So, now my blood is a Biohazard!” she sighed.

The doctor chuckled and with his usual sense of humor replied ‘’I can give you a sticker and plaster it on your uniform,when you enter the bridge..... mark my words everyone will disappear!’’ .

‘’All done ,you can go back to the bridge might be needed there while I take the blood samples myself to the science dept and oh please do tell the Captain that I’ll soon hand back the scrolls once I insert the information Verity and I gathered on the computer ‘’.

“Okay! Yes, I think you might be getting a visit from the CSO about those scrolls,” Cara replied.

‘’Ah yes they are on the desk and will go through them ,Verity helped a lot and the IU was an asset ‘’ Hunter did not mention that Verity had brought them onboard by mistake.

“If we’re done I’d like to get back to the Bridge,” Cara said as she edged towards the exit. Once Hunter said okay, she’d be gone. Apart from anything else, her much finer olfactory senses hated being in Sickbay for any longer than necessary.

With Cara and her tail out of the way, doctor Hunter entered the office whistling a long lost tune .He sat down and started gathering the information from the three scrolls.

Looking through the samples of Cara’s blood and the scans of the tail, Hunter would see that concentration levels of the symbiotic parasite thing were decreasing. It seems at least partly Cara’s own immune system was slowly recognizing the intruder as a ‘threat’ (even though it wasnt really) and was slowly killing it off. As a result the enhanced muscular ability and such of her tail would like go back to normal within the next 3-5 days roughly, if not sooner.

Hunter realized Cara’s tail was somehow back to ‘normal’ and now with the samples in hand went to the lab him self .What he saw under the microscope was something the doctor wasn’t expected …the parasite was dying ,attacked by Cara’s immune system .He knew it was something that Cross needed to know .

Verity entered sickbay interrupting whatever they had going on at the moment,.”I guess I should be checked out after that quick and unexpected transport back to the ship. Lucky for everyone I didn’t not throw up in the process.” She said loidly as she made a sour face. “I do feel queasy. Hopefully it doesn’t last for the rest of the day.”

Hunter helped the Lt on one of the biobed ‘’ Is it something that happens to you while being transported ?’’ the doctor asked as he started to scan,knowing some of the crew experience such sensation.

The nursing officer came running with a vomit bag and handed it to the Lt just in case .

OOC: What does the scan show? .

Verity tried to muster a weak smile as she settled on the biobed, grateful for the nursing officer’s quick thinking. “Thank you,” she said, taking the vomit bag just in case. “Well, it doesn’t happen every time, but occasionally, quick transports like that one can make me feel a bit queasy. It’s probably just a side effect of the process for some of us.”

OOC: The scans show:

Vital Signs: Verity’s heart rate and blood pressure were within the normal range, indicating no immediate cardiovascular issues.

Gastrointestinal System: The scanner focused on Verity’s gastrointestinal system to identify the cause of her queasiness. It revealed slight irritation and elevated gastric activity, which could explain her feeling queasy.

Inner Ear Function: Given her sensation of queasiness, the scanner also assessed her inner ear function, which plays a significant role in maintaining balance and spatial orientation. The results indicated that her inner ear was functioning normally.

Biochemical Analysis: The scanner performed a quick analysis of her blood and detected a slightly elevated level of stress hormones, likely a result of the sudden transport experience.

Hunter read the scan and with his usual small smile said ‘’Well my dear you have what is called Cross fever , cause that darn CMO gave the orders to beam us up without any warning ! I didn’t even get the chance to say my little prayer before being transported’‘.

Then on a more serious note he went on ‘’I can give you something for your upset stomach,if you feel thirsty just take small sips of water for the next hour or two and do rest a bit until the dizziness pass …its fairly quiet in sickbay at the moment besides I don’t want to be treating you for any head injuries ‘’ he’s voice was both soft and soothing which hopefully helped Verity with any tension she might be feeling.

Verity nodded, appreciating Hunter’s explanation and care. She took the offered medicine, trying to relax and let the dizziness pass. “Thank you, Hunter,” she said. “I’ll take it easy for a while, and I’m sure I’ll be fine soon.” She settled in on the biobed, feeling reassured by the quiet atmosphere in sickbay and Hunter’s soothing presence. “Can I get a blanket?” She asked.

She did not need to ask twice as Hunter brought the blanket and covered her with it ‘’There you go..sleep tight ‘’ and with those last words the doctor was gone .

Having finished with the scrolls he wrapped them up tightly,knowing they would eventually be sent back to the Elders .Putting them on Cross’s desk Hunter was about to leave for his break ,only to be stopped by the nursing officer .
‘’Doctor may I have a word with you....its about Cross ‘’.

‘’Of course Kate …what about Cross ?’’ he asked without any concern and lack of interest . Kate did seem nervous as she cleared her throat ‘’ Doctor awhile ago she had one of her meltdowns’‘.

Both his eyebrows went up ‘’Really ? Well that’s to be expected since the love of her life has gone I did hold her as she sobbed her heart out ,you know tried my best to show some compassion though cannot say that I miss him ‘’.

Kate started to get even more nervous and Hunter wondered if the nursing officer was going to have a meltdown as well.She shook her head ‘’Doctor you do know about her medical history don’t you? ‘’ she asked .Now she had the male doctor’s full attention as he nodded ‘’Increased aggressiveness and injury tolerance,recklessness etc ‘’.
She nodded ‘’When Cross came back to sickbay I asked her if you where okay and she flipped ,telling me that you would smile and call dear even to a wall ‘’ Kate omitted to say that Cross had told her she was the laughing stock of the medical personnel cause of her desire for the doctor ‘’Anyway I got out from the office and Cross shut the door which she normally does not do ,I did became concerned and asked the help of the COS , once inside we saw Cross collapsed on the floor .I looked around in disbelief that’s when I saw the hypospray , she had injected herself with a sedative ,most probably to stop herself …we did revive her eventually ‘’ looking at the man Kate lowered her eyes ‘’I just thought you should know …’’ she tailed off .

The last time Hunter had seen Cross was in the Captain’s chair about to doze off ,so he wasn’t unduly worried .He thanked Kate and promised her he would keep an eye on Cross after he had something to eat.

As Hunter finished his meal he decided to contact Kate =/\ Kate how is the Captain and Verity doing? =/\= what the nursing officer said took him by surprise =/\= The Captain is resting and Verity left for the meeting with the Ascended…doctor she is now our new Cmdr ..Kate out =/\= .

He was not expected this, it took him by surprise but then again he was just a Lt Junior and such decisions where not taken in his presence .His next step was to see Cross and thus headed to the turbolift.

Back in sickbay Hunter stopped at were Glen was lying ,after checking his vital signs and noticing that the saline infusion was still ongoing the doctor moved on to the next patient , who came in sickbay from the engineering dept with a minor injury to his left leg .
