[snip]

Both the small man and larger gruff woman waited for Glen to indicate answers to the earlier offer by the Elders for the team to take samples and help etc.

Glen spoke again to the small man and large gruff woman, =/\=We would still like to help you by testing your bodies, your water and Va’s Body. My Engineer will look for ways to make your mining of Va’s body safer. We thank you that the Elders have agreed as one mind to allow us to do so. We agree to heed the course of minimal speech, and to keep things simple for those we wish to approach, or wish to approach us. We thank you that we will be under the protection of the Elder’s blessings. We will need to take samples of your blood but our doctor can do this painlessly without breaking the surface of your skin. We can start now if that is acceptable.=/\=

Glen said to Hunter, and also to the Science team, “Let’s do this! Your heads have been given the blessing of the Elders to stay on your bodies. Work in pairs. Only choose the people who come forward to give blood willingly, rather than random sampling, and minimal questioning of them… and none of your wisecracks! When sampling the water, please choose places easily accessed, and in public open spaces. I’ll remain here, and you can all report back here when you are finished.”

‘’Yes Sir’’ the doctor replied opening his medical kit and taking out what was needed. He waited patiently for someone to came forward and hopefully others will follow suit.
A woman, maybe in her late 20’s approached a smiling Hunter, he pointed to the barrels they had been sitting on earlier .Cleaning the site of where the blood was to be taken the doctor did so without any problem after which he gave the woman a thumps up .

Others who had been watching decided to line up as well…to Hunter’s surprise everything went smoothly. He marked the blood samples according to gender and by guessing their age ,the last thing was putting them back in his medical kit labeling them ’ Bio-Hazard’.

Now he started to prepare for the water and public open spaces samples .

The people of Va seemed to be true to their word and Glen saw the medical and science teams get to work on collecting the samples for further analysis aboard the Merrimack. He watched them at work, while his mind wandered, and he wondered what had become of the team down the mines, and also how Joe was progressing with the further investigation of the comet.

Apparently Hunter was feeling much more relaxed,he took out two sterilized glass containers but before he walked over towards the river ,the doctor decided he had enough of the restricted shirt and tore it off him ‘’Ah that’s much better ‘’ he remarked and with the two glass bottles in hand, Hunter went his way whistling some long forgotten tune .
