Hunter informed all the crew to come to the Lounge if they wanted some entertainment and being provided with amusement or enjoyment .He also asked anyone with any special talent to perform if they so wished or come up with something at the spur of the moment .

There was finger foods,desserts ,fairy lights of every color around the bar and hanging from the ceiling giving the place a truly magical feeling and last but not least music . He could not have done it without the help of Kate and Sharp .While the two went to change Hunter stood by waiting for Cross who came running out of breath ‘’Am I late?’’ she asked ‘’How do I look doctor?’’ .

Hunter had asked if she could come early and greet the crew ‘’You look just great dear ‘’ he replied not really seeing her short white dress and with that he left in a hurry to get changed himself.

Cross looked around and thought she’ll add a kind of white mist which gave the impression of something hazy ,making the floor invisible . As she stood in the doorway Miriam checked the pearls she had put in her hair and waited.

Hunter and Cross

Pashi was unsure of herself, she wore an Andorian silk kimono. The design was extremely dark blue at the bottom and gradually turned to ice white by the collar. She made her way to the lounge and stepped in. This was to be her first ‘social’ event with her crewmates and she wanted to make a good first impression.

Cross had only seen the science officer once during her medical ‘’ Hi Pashi ,I’m glad to see you, I’m sure you’ll get acquainted with more crew while you’re here ‘’ and then her eyes took in the dress the Lt was wearing ,yep Cross was a female through and through ‘’My what a beautiful dress!’’ the doctor stated in all sincerity ,then looked down at her plain white short dress and kind of shrugged.

’’ The decor inside is awesome …at least I think it is ‘’ she said as an after thought ‘’ Do you have any thing with regards of entertainment ?’’ Cross asked ‘’ Between us I don’t have anything ‘’.

That was Cross jumping from one subject to another within a couple of seconds.

Lance Entered the area with a pair of tactical khakis, and a black polo. He was caring a big plate of shepherds pie to share with everyone. He placed the serving plate down on the table and looked around.

‘’Hey Lt lance am I invisible?’’ Cross asked with a hint of humor in her tone of voice .She had been standing at the entrance welcoming Pashi and wanted to introduce them to each other ‘’ Lt lance is the D’H of Security and Lt Pashi is our new science officer ‘’ the doctor glanced from one to the other .

Lance held out his hand to meet pashi. He then looked to cross “ No, you’re not invisible far from it but I must say you are looking very lovely tonight” his attention went back to pashi “nice to meet you if you need any help from security let me know.

‘’Thanks Lt ‘’ Cross replied with a smile for the compliment.

Being the fashionista she was, Verity entered the lounge wearing a strapless ruffle top pant jumpsuit that flared at the legs, making it appear as s dress, and a pair of platform high-heeled sandals. It was her first opportunity to hang out with the crew of the Merrimack since she had boarded. The first thing she did was stop at the bar for a drink before circling back to mingle with the group that had already assembled. “Dr. Cross, Pashi, Lieutenant Del Wolf, how are you all this evening?” She looked around for Dr. Hunter and was surprised that he wasn’t around since he was the one who had summoned everyone to the lounge.

As Cross saw Verity coming over and looking at the way she was dressed thought * I’m going to be the worst dressed female around* had it not been for the pearls in her hair she could have been mistaken for going to the grocery shop instead.

‘’Hi Lt Verity,glad you could make it ‘’ the doctor did observe the CSO looking around ‘’Looking for someone ?’’ Cross asked.

“Oh, I was looking to see if Dr. Hunter had arrived yet.” She took a sip of her drink and said, “Apparently not.”

Joe came in wearing a dress uniform that if nothing else showed that it had been little used. He took a drink of apple juice from the bar and walked over to Cross and Verity. “Hello ladies and how are you doing?” He turned to Cross then and asked, “Sō Miri have you seen Mr. Hunter? He was supposed to be the master of ceremonies. for tonight’s event. I hope he makes it here.

On seeing Joe ,Cross had the urge to hug him but evaded from doing so, too many crew around ‘’Em Hunter was waiting for me to come and when I did he went to change in his quarters .I figure he’ll arrive soon ‘’ .

Seeing the others with a drink in hand Cross excused herself and headed to the bar ordering a double shot of Vodka .

“Is that Vodka, Dr. Cross? I think I will have one too.” she said as she joined her at the bar. ‘’Yes the third one actually ‘’Cross whispered.

As Cross was at the bar Kate came in making her way towards the others ,she gave a nod to the Cmdr then turned to those around him ‘’What do you thing of the decor? ‘’ the nursing officer asked rather excited ‘’ Richard and I helped doctor Hunter ‘’ . It was then that she looked down and saw the white fog about ten inches off the floor, moving slowly as if it was dancing around everyone’s feet and wondered who came up with the idea .

“It’s interesting,” Verity yelled from the bar. “Are we supposed to be dancing on a cloud or something?” she asked as the bartender handed her a shot of Vodka.

‘’Its just fog Verity I don’t think it would hold any weight ,creepy ain’t it? ‘’ the female doctor giggled .The music got louder and some were dancing at the other side of the lounge.

Ensign Sharp was next to enter but he was way too shy to mingle with those present even though he saw his D’H Lt Lance ,instead he walked over to one of the tables with assorted finger foods, wondering what to take .

“Ensign Sharp!” said Verity as she walked back toward the group, “You can’t sit over there by yourself. You must come and join us.” She said the smile and waving him over toward the group.

Reluctantly Richard joined the group,he gave a little wave while trying to swallow the two olives he had picked up.

Kate turned to those around her ‘’ Cmdr,Lance Verity , Pashi , I have an idea ,how about each one of us tell our favorite quote ....I’m sure everyone has one !’’ .

Finally Hunter entered ,the first thing he noticed was the fog and frowned since it had not been there when he left .He held a guitar in his hand which the doctor put behind the bar for now and slowly but surly made his way towards the group .

‘’Good evening ladies and gentleman so what have I missed? ‘’ he was wearing a black trousers and white shirt with real gold buttons ,his hair was loose reaching down to his shoulders.

Verity downed her shot of vodka and then thought for a moment. “I have one, Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble. It’s from a politician who was born in the 20th century. Now I know politicians often have a shady past, but my father really loved this one. He was an avid spokesperson for equality.”

Both Kate and Cross clapped ,especially the female doctor who thought the quote fitted her perfectly .’‘I have one my grandfather use to tell my mother ..keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool,open it and remove all doubt ‘’ she smiled knowing how perfectly it fitted her mother.

‘’Ah so you are saying your favorite idiomatic expressions ‘’Hunter was quick to choose one ‘’Mine is …It takes nothing to stand in a crowd but it takes everything to STAND alone ‘’ putting an emphasize on the word STAND.

And with that small smile of his ,he told the group that their next drinks was on him.

Lance was back by the table next to the shepherds pie. He was cutting pieces out for people to try. He always felt good cooking for people letting people have good food was one of the things that his father taught him when he was younger the smell of freshly cooked shepherds pie drifted around the room. Hopefully it was making people hungry there was nothing like a home-cooked meal.

Joe had moved around the room with as much stealth as possible, and soon held a Guiness in his hand. He finally moved away from the wall and hoisted the mug and said, “Oh great quotes? There’s something I’m good at! May you all live to be one hundred with an extra year to repent!”

‘’And the same goes too you Cmdr ,maybe we’ll have the opportunity to meet again when we’re hundred plus, talking about our trials and tribulations ‘’ he ended the sentence with a chuckle…while Cross rolled her eyes .

Kate’s eyes had not left Hunter since he came ,she summoned all her courage to approach him ‘’Doctor Hunter would you care for a dance with me ?’’ she asked looking up at him with hopeful eyes .

He put a hand over her arm ‘’My dear I have to decline ,dancing is not really my thing ‘’ he replied apologetically ‘’Why don’t you ask someone else ‘’ the doctor suggested.
