Max had a nice 6 hours of sleep but he still had some time to report in. He was just getting comfortable in the new ship and was starting to get to know folks and getting his engineering team set up to be able to keep the ship running in tip top shape. Max decided since he had some time to work out. He headed down to the gym. He thought a nice workout before going back to duty would be ideal. After a few minutes of walking, Max arrived at the gym. It was very early in the morning, around 4 AM, and he was hoping there would not be too many people at the gym. He was hoping since it was early enough to not be near the end of the night shift and late enough, most people would still be asleep. He went ahead and entered the gym. He sat down at one of the leg press stations and began his workout.

Hunter frequently would head to the gym when he was off duty,it was still early and thought it would be empty at this hour so was surprised to see the Chief Engineer working out.

Not one to avoid people the doctor approached him ‘’Lt Mullins already working out? ‘’ he asked in a friendly tone.

Max looked up from the bench he was on and saw the doctor. “You are more than welcome to join me. I need to do some arms and maybe we can help spot each other.” Max always enjoyed having someone else to work out with. It was safer that way. He waited for the reaction of the doctor.

‘’Sure ‘’ Hunter replied ‘’Just tell me what to do Lt ‘’ the doctor sounded confident but in reality he had no idea what Mullins meant ,as more often then not he would make his way to the punching bag.
Maybe it shall not be a bad idea to learn something new Hunter thought too himself.

Max responded to the question by Hunter, “All that a spotter needs to do on the bench press is stand behind the bar and if I struggle and cannot get it up, you can help me pull it up. After I do a number of reps, we can switch places and I will be your spotter. ” Max then put about 200 lbs on the bench press bar and then sat down on the bench and waited for Hunter to get into the right position. He then began doing some reps with the weight. He did about 20 reps and took a short rest and then did another 20. Hen then stood up and waited for Hunter to sit down.

Hunter did as he was told and was amazed at the weights Mullins’s could hold up but when it was his turn the doctor wasn’t so sure ‘’I usually take the punch bag and treat it like it an opponent ‘’ he explained ‘’ What happens if the weights are to much and cannot hold them?’’ .

A doctor always a doctor ‘’I could break some ribs,or a perforated lung ‘’ Hunter tried to explain Not to mention burst an artery from the brain.
Not one to chicken out he laid down ‘’Ready ‘’ he told the CE, though the doctor did no sound so convincing.
