Lt. Lance was off for a day so he started to cook for the crew. That morning he had home made Irish rost coffee with scrambled eggs and hashbrowns.

During lunch he made salami and mustard sandwiches on sourdough buns.

For dinner, he was pulling a recipe from his grandmothers books. Shepherds pie.

Richard entered the Mess Hall and was hit by the aroma of roast coffee,he did not go to the replicator,who in their right mind would do! Instead he followed the smell and was surprised to find the COS ‘’Sir I had no idea you could cook ‘’ .

The security did not know much about Lance except that he was his D’H,they never really had the time to get to know each other that well.Beside the Ensign still had the need to acquire and obtain some confidence in himself .

Maybe now was the time for some feeling of self- assurance ‘’Sir would you mind if I have a cup of that coffee ? It sure smell awesome ‘’ he remarked .

Lance smiled “sure sharp help yourself. Do you think you can pop some eggs for me?” He said putting a bowl of fresh egg on the table. “ ya I have been cook since I was 13. I lived with my grandparents so I cooked for them.” He looked up to sharp “ how about you? Did you ever learn to cook with special skill do you have?”

’’ Not really ‘’Richard replied ‘’Mum and my sister did all the cooking but I guess I can crack some eggs ‘’ at least he thought he could. ‘’Special skills? ‘’ the security tried to think of something ‘’I do have a black belt in Karate, level five ‘’ as an after thought he asked ‘’Does that count Lt?’‘.

Lance smiled “it sure dos sharp. So your good at hand to hand what made you wanna study Karate” he said learning this man to find a way to boost his self confidence.

Pashi made her way to the Mess Hall with one of her favorite Earth hardback books, David Copperfield written by Charles Dickens. She was planning on getting some food and reading before she retired for the day. It had been an eventful day processing onto the ship. Stepping into the Mess Hall she smelt Earth coffee and was shocked to see two humans talking and making a meal.
