On hearing gun shots Richard was quick to get his phaser out, turning on his back the security slid down a couple of inches ,through the Universal translator he tried to make out what these humanoids were saying.

Looking down the pair would find a dirty grim covered local girl of maybe 3-4 years of age in ragged cloth and patches thickly engrossed in litter and such. The effects of this exposure was that when tricorder scans had been done earlier her hiding in the trash pile and basically being like trash herself had provided enough of a mask to conceal her location from the scans.

It was after Cara was caught by just as much surprise as was Joe that he finally reacted. He reached out quickly and grabbing the little girl he tossed her across his shoulder. Standing the with her wiggling on his shoulder he flipped open the comm he already held in his hand and got busy. =/\= Away team stay where you are. Having been preoccupied with collecting data, Verity had no idea what was happening down the hill with Cara and Joe, so when the call came from the Commander they were to all beam back to the Merrimack, she responded.=^=What in the world is going on! Why are beaming back to the Merrimack?=^=

Richard was as surprised as the CSO *Female creature? Compromised? * well what ever the reason the security was glad to beam back to the ship and get out of that polluted land.

But then the sudden transporter beam up took the scream from the local planet and as they all reformed, the dirty girl let out a bellow from her lungs showing she had quite the set of lungs on her.

When Lance came too his head was hurting and most of his body was sore. “What the hell happened to me” he said
