As Verity materialized on the transporter pad, she wore a new science blue long sleeve dress uniform with solid black calf high boots, and her straightened sleek black hair, which reflected some light from the transporter bulbs, was fixed in a low intricately full braided bun that seemingly sat right on the nape of her neck. Beside her left foot, resting on the ground, was a standard issue Starfleet duffle bag which contained all of her belongings she deemed worthy to accompany her on the journey.
Verity had heard that she’d arrived just in time for a new mission and was feeling excited yet anxious at the same time. After a few moments of standing on the pad, she shook her shoulders, arms and hands in an attempt to get rid of the tingling feeling she aways felt when she went through the transporter. She didn’t fully trust them, as a person fearful of flying may not trust aircrafts, but she knew they were perfectly safe and it was the most logical and quickest way, if you were within the appropriate range, to jump from one destination to another. After all the science supported it!
“Whew!” She said with a gigantic smile on her face as she stooped over, lifted her bag off the floor, and approached the transporter operator with gleaming dark brown eyes. “Lieutenant Verity Aphelion reporting for duty. New Chief Science Officer here. I need to know where to drop this bag so I can get to work!”

V. Aphelion, CSO

Joe who had been contacted in the conference room walked into the transporter room door and said with a broad smile on his face, “Well that’s the sort of attitude that we like to see around here! It’s things like that that will get your XO to carry bags!” Joe hefted up the Lieutenants duffel in his left hand and held out his right hand to shake hands with the new science officer. Then turning into colorful Joe, he said, “By my Aunt Millie’s homework eating goat’s chin whiskers we are glad to see you!”

Verity giggled at the XO’s comment then said, “Well I am glad to be aboard” still smiling she raised her eyebrows and continued, “I am glad that goat never ate my homework, else I may not be here. It truly is an honor, sir.”

After shaking her hand, he turned to leave and was speaking all the while. “I am the XO around here Lieutenant Commander Joe Milligan and have we got a job for you Lieutenant Aphelion. ” As they stepped into the turbo lift Joe finally seemed to slow down a bit. He took a deep breath and spoke saying, “Your quarters are on deck three. Four doors down from the conference room. So, I’ll drop your bag there, you can freshen up a bit if need be and join us in the conference room. “

“Oh, I don’t need to fresh up. I will wait till you drop my bag off and follow you there.”

As the doors on the turbo-lift opened Joe stepped outside and turned to the new Lieutenant and apologized. “I’m sorry about the hurry up but fleet is hurrying this mission along. Usually, I get to sit down for a bit with new arrivals so if you have any questions now is the time to ask them.” Joe had begun walking again and was soon placing her duffle just inside the door of her quarters.

Verity nodded, she had wondered why Starfleet was hurrying the mission. “It sounds pretty important, hence the urgency. Are we the only ship they are sending on this mission? If we are it sort of seems we pulled the short straw don’t you think? However I guess we wont really know till we hear the briefing. “
