Joe had been busier than what he had wanted it to be the past couple of days. He had gotten a message about a new Chief engineer coming aboard but only a moment after that he had been called away to deal with no less than three emergencies that weren’t but that was sometimes the case. Having been on the go all day he assumed that he had missed the Lieutenant when he’d come to his office to see him, so Joe decided to make a stop in engineering to see if the new chief was there.

Walking into engineering he was greeted by the same assuring sounds that any good ship makes. He always found these sounds an assurance that all was well. He didn't see anyone around. He knew a crewman was down repairing a pump on one of the impulse speed reactors. So not seeing anyone really didn't surprise him. He did however decide to call out before his next emergency occurred. Moving toward the center of engineering he cupped his hand by his mouth and called out. "Lieutenant Mullins! You around?"
