Lance finally got to his office. He started his paperwork for the new officer he turns his chair to see if his wall safe was installed. He placed his hand on the wall “Lt. Del Wolf 86-457-001” a beep sounded and a safe opened. He checked the safe and found his personal phaser and an old police badge that belonged to his grate grate grandfather he placed it on the table.

First to arrive was Richard Sharp, followed by NC Jack both snapping to attention ‘’Sir’’ they acknowledged their D.H with a wave of the hand toward the forehead. They stood that way until Lance would tell them to relax.

Guy Fleegman arrived last. I know how this ends! he thought. Yes, death by landing party. Very effective on this ship.

“Sir,” Guy pleaded, “I have a wife and three kids! And I can’t stand the sight of blood!”

Lance looked at them “relax….. now Ensign Sharp last week you put crewman miles in the break for fighting some one in the mess hall but you never reported the fight to his DH am I correct” he asked looking over the files.

Ensign Sharp gulped ‘’No Sir I did not report him and since you were with the away team I could not report it to you ‘’ what he did not say was the commotion he created on the bridge by telling the security at sickbay that a trade ship was on the way , Hunter had heard him and the doctor was furious headed to the bridge demanding why sickbay was not informed to be prepared for any eventually that may arise.

Lance focused his eyes on Fleegman “and you. You have no note or reports but why were there 2 men in the brig who had reported you put them there and they didn’t know why”

“Me, Sir?” Fleegman asked incredulously, “I’m just not that guy! Sir!” Fleegman had never put anyone in the Brig without proper orders. He wouldn’t do anything that made himself stand out from the other redshirts. Those were the redshirts who were certain to die. “Sir, it must have been someone else, Sir!”

Lance smiled “relax everyone this complaints are from months ago. So because I am the new COS that means everyone is on a clean slate. Now when is everyone due for there re qualification for phaser shooting. I will like everyone to be up to date I can re qualify everyone if I need to”

Guy never volunteered for anything first. He would be one of the people who stepped back when you were meant to step forward. In any case, it had been hundreds of days since the last phaser malfunction aboard the Merrimack.

Both Richard and NC Jack’s arms shot up,it seemed both were looking forward, after all as security they had a reputation to maintain it was essential they needed to stay in tip-top condition and keeping in physical shape .

‘’Sir we could also do some work out at the gym......’’ he finished the sentence with an’‘Oww’’ as Richard hit him with his elbow in the ribs to shut up.

Joe walked in then carrying a PaDD in his hand. Looking up he frowned at the people standing around with their hands up Shaking his head back and forth he looked over at Wolf and asked,”Are you robbing their people or are they volunteering to go on a beer run Lieutenant?”

From their hands up ,it was now next to their forehead ‘’Cmdr’’ .

Lance looked at the XO “sorry sir I was just checking with the team here. oh I do wanna ask when was the last time the senior officers got checked out on their phaser skills” he asked

It seemed NC Jack could not keep his mouth shut ‘’Oh Lt,the Cmdr had been the D’H of security years ago ‘’ he thought if Lance was not aware, he had given him some important information .Richard rolled his eyes and whispered ‘’Shut the hell up or you’ll get us into trouble! ‘’ .

Joe looked up from the information he was reading off his PaDD and looked from Del Wolf to the redshirts. He said to the red shirts, “At ease you’ll give yourself arm pit cramps or something.” He paused for only a moment before a smile came across his face. “And yes, I was the COS many years ago. Until of course some ensign that talked too much made the mistake of going too far. So, I cooled him off in an empty torpedo tube for a bit. Was good for a laugh but was hard to explain to the captain. “

Joe looked to Del Wolf then and said, Lieutenant as I understand it those that needed qualifying were qualified at our last stop. Your predecessor wasn’t much at keeping records it seems. You may want to go through all the department records and update them. One thing along those lines. You have two officers in the brig that I sent there for fighting. Go ahead and let them out on my orders and file a report with the captain.”

Then as if remembering something else Joe said, "OH and that phaser qualification thing Lieutenant? Remember to use the dummy phasers with low level lasers. Remember we are in a pressurized tube." Joe laughed as he reminisced. "Was a guy in my class at the academy grabbed a real phaser and blew out the wall of the firing range and almost incinerated the physics class down the hall!" Joe looked over at the redshirts and then back to Del Wolf. He laughed shook his head and asked ,"Anyone have any questions? I still have to go visit with Doctor Cross next."
