Nurse Jane entered the office where Hunter was ‘’Doctor we have a patient he’s in pain and was helped by a colleague who brought him to sickbay ,we have already put him on a biobed.Hunter did not hesitate to get up and followed the nurse,the patient was no other then Thomas .

He had his hand on the right side just below his abdomen ‘’I’m in pain doctor I really am’’ the male doctor could see him wincing . Taking the medical tricoder he started scanning ‘’Nurse Jane his vital signs please’’ she responded back ‘’A temp of 101,blood pressure slightly elevated’’ when Hunter finished scanning, looking down at Thomas he said’’ Your appendix is inflamed,we need to perform an appendectomy then went on to ask him when the pain started ?When was the last time he ate,although the scan showed no contents in the stomach ‘’The pain has been on and off for days until to-day when it suddenly increased,the last meal was yesterday but I threw up twice ‘’.

Hunter took the time to explain that he would do a Laparoscopic surgery, minimally invasive with 3 tiny incisions of about a quarter to a half inch.’’ I would perform the operation using a laparoscope, a tube fitted with a video camera, inserted through the incision, with tiny surgical tools and take out the inflamed appendix ‘’.
The doctor knew a Laparoscopic surgery has certain advantages over open surgery, such as shorter hospital stay, quicker healing less post-surgery pain, less scarring.
‘’Nurse Jane do prepare our patient for the op,start with a saline infusion and also antibiotics given intravenous ‘’.

Seeing the agitated look on Thomas’s face Hunter raffled his hair ‘’No need to worry its a minor operation,we’ll put you to sleep and you’ll wake up pain free ‘’ and with those last words Hunter made his way to the O.R.
