‘’No doctor ,no questions I’ll do as you said drink plenty of water and rest ‘’ he got up from the biobed You bet I’m going to rest Thomas thought ‘’Thanks a lot doctor Wong’’ then turned around to exit sickbay.

Stanley chuckled as the Ensign left. He then updated the patient file for Hunter and Cross as he wrote,” Patient complained of severe headache. Didn’t seem to be clear on symptoms. Patient gave some symptoms of a common migraine without describing other more common ones. I suspect that while the patient might have had a headache, he might have been using it to get out of work. ” Stanley then typed in all the instructions and medications he had given him and then typed out recommendations. “I recommend that if patient appears again with similar symptoms that the patient get confinement to sickbay. Complete neurological study with patient in place. Complete bloodwork study. Chemical workup with special attention paid to Dopamine, Serotonin, Oxytocin, Glutamates, and Norepinephrine.”
Stanley signed off on the report and smiled as he thought of the man getting to lie on a bio bed for three days as he was poked and prodded. he would either be cured or he would become a better worker one.

The nursing officer approached the doctor once Thomas left ‘’ So what was wrong with him this time ?’’ she asked ‘’Oh sorry how impolite of me, I’m Kate the nursing officer ‘’ she extended her hand while scrutinizing his strange attire.

Who the hell is this guy Kate thought for the last thing she wanted was to have some kind of imposter ,it happened once though he was a security from star fleet yet the man was working as an espionage with their enemies by gathering information.

Stanley turned then to see the nurse. He frowned at first wondering where she had come from. He had been through the whole of the sickbay area when he was familiarizing himself with the place. Stanley smiled then and took the proffered hand shaking it. “Hello there! I’m Doctor Stanley Wong at your service Kate. ” Stanley made himself a bit more comfortable on the stool at which he was sitting in front of the worktable as he answered Kate’s question.

He frowned at first wondering where she had come from.
‘’Oh I was changing a patient’s dressing,sickbay is never quiet empty you know and there’s also doctor Kim on the other side’‘.

Stanley couldn’t have ‘been through the whole of the Sickbay area’ quite as thoroughly as I thought he had, because as he adjusted his stool something orange and furry shot out from under the worktable, and straight out of the Sickbay door. It did a sharp turn left and disappeared up the corridor.

Kate’s hands went up to each cheek ‘’Oh my, do be careful that’s the Captain’s pet cat.His niece Faith takes care of him ,em I mean it’‘.

“I suspect that the man is suffering from nothing. He may be suffering from a stress of some kind. There have been studies recently about the effects of deep space travel. Even in such lovely environments such as this ship there are sometimes people who become stressed by some of the smallest of things. Being able to take a walk beneath a blue sky or lack of the color green for instance. ” Stanley laughed at himself and the way he had started to chatter.” I’m sorry I talk too much. That man I suspect though is just trying to slip out of his duties. And if something is wrong with him, we will certainly find out what it is on his next visit!”

The N.O nodded ‘’Yes doctor Hunter had come to that conclusion a long time ago ,he hates his job and find every excuse under the sun to take time off work.Hunter did try to help him even after the doctor was reprimanded by the new Cmdr,were he expressed strong disapproval of how Hunter had handled the situation when Thomas came lo and behold with a broken nose. Cross had no other option but to take the task of punishing him and worse wrote what he did in his file notes’’ Kate paused ‘’Poor Hunter he works so hard,we were so sorry for him’‘. she sniffed blowing her nose

Stanley listened with great intensity to the nurse. He was in fact simply fascinated with her. Between the interactions of the doctors and then of all things. A cat? Although animals were known to be on starships a sickbay was not the place to be having them. He couldn’t help but smile as he remembered a history lesson about the ancient British navy. Cats and limes the two things no good captain would sail without. And both for health reasons. Limes, or any fruit really rich in certain vitamins, and cats to catch mice and rats on board. That and they came in handy after a battle to dispose of the smaller pieces of flesh which lay about after amputations.

He shook his head and frowned as he brought himself back from his musings. Back then of course people had still been unaware what germs were. Today of course people knew that cats were carriers of disease just from what might be hiding in their fur alone. And that of all places a sickbay was not a spot to have one! And now this nurse was on the edge of weeping about this Doctor Hunter? He had been wrong. He had thought that this might be a wasted trip. Perhaps a day or two. He would be here two days just writing up potential reports on the people who might be in need of his help.

Stanley sighed and shook his head. He looked over at the nurse and asked her innocently, “Sō tell me nurse, Doctor Hunter is he popular among the crew? I mean he does seem to be a dedicated and hardworking doctor.”

Kate nodded ‘’Yes he definitely is’’ at that point she was about to whisper in the man’s ear but something stopped her and the N.O took some steps backwards.

What the heck am I doing? she thought to herself I do not even know this man he might be charismatic but I’m telling him things that only some of the crew know. Had she not learned her lesson about the security who was actually working for their enemies And he’s not even wearing a star fleet uniform!.

‘’Em..m do excuse me Mr Wong but I have more things to attend do ‘’ Kate gave him a forced smile and was ready to leave.

Stanley chuckled at the nurse as she made to make a quick getaway. “Oh, and nurse.” Stanley called to her. “Make sure that sickbay gets a deep cleaning and sterilization. And let’s not let cats in anymore, shall we?” A gushing schoolgirl of a nurse and cats violating medical protocol. Stanley put his elbow on the table and rested his chin on his hand. he sighed as he said to himself. “It will be a while yet before I am home. He turned the toward the computer and accessed his personal files. There he began the introduction to what would be his report. He could do nothing much more until he had talked to captain Glen. He did make a complete list of things he thought might be addressed. He had come out here for a simple walk through and evaluation of one person and now it seemed to have gotten out of control!

Kate turned around ‘’Rest assured that sickbay harbors no germs what so ever, I take my duties seriously. Long gone are the days when nearly all hospitals had to deal with MRSA and that cat has been on the ship for ages,it is well cared for ‘’ she wasn’t quite finished yet ‘’ Surely you know that a pet can help a patient in a positive way ,if you don’t know then may I suggest you look up its benefits ‘’.

The nursing officer made her way to the bathroom,once inside she wrapped her hands along her painful stomach,Kate was worried about what she could have said * At least I divulged nothing about Troy * just thinking about it made her double over in pain again. A few minutes later Kate felt fine enough to splash water on her face and walked back to sickbay .

Stanley only sat looking at his computer screen shaking his head. He was not here to train or discipline lovesick nurses, so no mention was made of the at least seven transmittable diseases which cats could carry. He made a note however for Hunter with a copy for Cross when she returned. He yawned and stretched. He was growing weary. Perhaps Hunter had fallen asleep and slept much better than what even he thought he could. Stanley didn’t truly mind thought the doctor needed his rest.

Hunter turned the corner and walked the few steps towards sickbay,all seemed quiet and he took a breath of relief .Making his way towards the psychiatrist ,glad to see him calm and composed the doctor smiled ‘’ How did it go?’’ he asked ‘’At least you are still in one piece ‘’ Hunter kept a straight face but the humor in his voice was not lost.

While he pulled his hair in a neat pony tail,Hunter gave a quick glance around then pulled a chair nearer ‘’ So doctor Wong ready to give me over, just a brief report ‘’ not that he was expecting anything ‘’And how about getting on the biobed ,so I’ll start your medical and you can go get some rest..it looks like you need it’‘.

Stanley nodded at Hunter and began to speak slowly. “Yes, a report. I wrote a formal one for you and Doctor Cross but I’ll give you the rundown. We had one man coming in claiming to have a headache. I gave him a cross section of medicines designed to stop the headache and left a list of tests that should be done on him if he returns. I think he was simply trying to get out of his shift, but one never knows. It wouldn’t hurt to make sure if he keeps returning.

Hunter now changed position,feet slightly apart, his elbows resting on both knees and hunched over with a lowered head ‘’Don’t tell me he was back again !’’ the doctor exclaimed ‘’I had a talk with him to find out what the real problem was and he did admit that he was bored and did no like his job.with all due respect Stanley doing tests on him would be a waste of time and resources ‘’.

Also, the integrity of the sickbay was later breeched when a feline was found wandering about. She didn’t seem to understand the necessity to keep a sickbay germ free. I told her she should deep clean sickbay with the computer low level radiation sweep but she refused.” Stanley shrugged and laughed then as she told Hunter. “I think perhaps she wants you to tell her. I think she may be quite fond of you.”

At the word *Breached’’ the doctor straightened up,to him it meant failing to conform to a regulation or obligation or both, though on the word ‘feline’ Hunter chuckled ‘’Oh doctor it is well taken care off ‘’ he fluttered his hand as if there was a fly buzzing around ‘’His favorite place is engineering, playing with what ever it finds ,one day that cat would end up fried’‘.

Hunter frowned ‘’Eh? What? Dear Mr Wong rest assured sickbay is kept germ free ,the only germs that one find could be on sick crew members who may have been on an away team or someone whose work is mostly in cargo bay and those patients are isolated from the rest of sickbay’‘.

Hunter was attaching the diagnostic wand to the medical tricoder ,he looked a the man as if he had suddenly sprouted a pair of horns ‘’To whom are you referring too? Who is this she’’ the doctor asked, becoming more perplexed by the minute.’‘Do lay down please and have you heard anything about the away team? Or perhaps bridge?’‘.

Stanley lay back on the bio-bed and glanced at Hunter oddly as he did. Finally, he spoke as he glanced over at Hunter saying, “A nurse who popped in shortly after I was finished treating the man with the headache. I forget he name I’m afraid. No wait Kate? Does that sound correct? ” He waved his hand then as if confused as he asked Hunter. “But I must ask you something. Perhaps something has changed since I was in any sort of healthcare facility. But do you have some sort of blanket protection against all the zoonoses such as Giardiasis, staphylococci and all the others? Perhaps I’ve not kept up on my reading?” Wong was now a bit agitated at the thought that he had missed something as important as a way to prevent humans from contracting any diseases at all from animals. Were they now letting animals bound about in such a nonchalant fashion?
