Once Glen had closed his comm channel, Dol spoke, “..Well Captain, why don’t I take my leave of you and have Holt escort you back to your fellow crew mates? I can speak to my council about Tia’s request, and hopefully get back to you later this evening or by tomorrow morning. I will also arrange if you do not mind a meeting in two hours for you and your crew to speak formerly on our news networks. I am confident by now everyone on the habitat has heard of your arrival and presence and are eager for news in detail..” He said with a smile.

“yes, thank you,” Glen replied. “We’ll be ready to speak to your reporters then.”

Tia’s head was spinning, but in a good way. She had made the request on a lark. It never occurred to her both sides would agree. As the Dol rose to go, she stood as well. “Thank you, Sir. I’ll look forward to your decision. As for me, I don’t mind taking to whomever you wish. But the Captain, of course, would have the discretion of how much we tell.”

“I no longer have such as problem with informing your people about ourselves,” Glen added. “Initially, I was concerned that the news of our arrival might have a detrimental effect upon your Habitat. That people would be worried, scared or fearful that they were not alone in the Galaxy. However, we are clearly only one of many visitors that you have had before, and it is quite an unremarkable event for you really.”

Dol nodded, then took his leave, moving over to another station to converse with someone about something....

Waiting for the Dol to leave she turned back to the Captain. “I’d like to get together with my engineers to discuss who would take my place if I remain.” It was gonna be a tough decision. Those she had as shift leaders were all great folks. It would be a hard choice to choose just one to step into her place.

“I’ll take your recommendation very seriously, and no one know the Mariner Class Specifications like our own engineers, but I’m generally supposed to offer opportunities for promotion to the whole Black Fleet,” Glen replied.

At that point Kahuna messaged the Captain back. =/\= Captain, this is just to report back that the approaching vessel checks out. It is the trading vessel from the Sybyl that was expected. We also have a guest from Starfleet; a Psychiatrist called Doctor Wong. I don’t know why he is here but he’s been wandering all over the ship unescorted.=/\=

=/\= Captain, if I’m honest, Sir, I’m having a hard time actually. The Bridge Officer Command exam makes no reference to any regulation that Sickbay to be kept informed with minute by minute updates from the Bridge. Is that just a USS Merrimack thing because I wasn’t told? Secondly, did Lieutenant De Wolf authorize Security personnel to report directly to Doctor Hunter in Sickbay with updates and assessments from the Bridge? Thirdly, can you confirm if am I under some kind of special observation here? I have Security Officers, Doctors and Psychiatrists all checking on me and my actions, and it makes it difficult to do my job, especially as I have only recently been promoted. I expected to fail the Kobayashi Maru test, but I thought sitting in the Chair while orbiting a peaceful, low-tech, First Contact world, would have been a bit of a doddle! Turns out, it’s extremely hard work! =/\=

=/\= I’m not aware of any of that. I’ll have to deal with it when I return. There are no special Merrimack regulations and you aren’t under investigation so I’d have to ask Lt. De Wolf about his Security Officers actions. I also need to ask Starfleet about this Doctor Wong as that is quite unusual too. Sorry, you have had to experience that. Glen Out! =/\=

Tia giggled. “Seems to me the new kid is under scrutiny. I’m sorry they’re giving him such a hard time. But I’m glad engineering went mentioned in any of those doing the poking. Do you want me to send an off duty engineer to check on the doctor and see if he’s lost?”

Glen shook his head. “I’ll sort it all out when we return. There are no restricted areas of the ship that don’t have locked doors, and if Starfleet have sent him to us, then he can wander wherever he likes. I don’t like the other bickering though. There seems to have been a lack of discipline recently. I need De Wolf to get on top of it, especially if it appears that his guards are creating gossip, and now the XO is now established on Merrimack, he needs to get the DHs to get their officers in line… Anyway, those won’t be your problems if you leave us. We should discuss what we say to these news reporters and how you will work here without disclosing to much technology to them. Then we need to catch up with the tour, wherever they are.”

Tia laughed. “First Chair or Second Chair… Both seem like trial by fire promotions. Glad I’m heading there, myself.”

As Glen mentioned the Department Heads getting in line, she nodded. “I’ll make sure Engineering knows to keep straight from the get. There’s no reason for us to stray from it own duties. And certainly no reason to butt into other departments, much less the Bridge.” At this mention of the rest of the group, she smiled. “I’m curious to see what other things we’ve been told about. And I promise to behave if allowed to remain.”

Dol turned putting down what seemed a sort of ear piece and microphone he had been using, “..Captain Glen? Engineer Tia? My aide here Councilor Chal will be happy to escort you back to your crew mates when you are ready. I in the meantime will converse with the rest of my advisor’s for Tia’s request and setup our media members to interview you all in the next few hours..” he said.

Tia nodded and stretched. “Ok, let’s go see what the other half has been up to.” She laughed and nodded that she follow the CO. Even the prospect of staying behind was exciting her. Whether she got to or not.
