OOC: Main Sim - Habitat - Glen/Tia Q/

Posted by Captain John Tiberius Glen (Captain) in OOC: Main Sim - Habitat - Glen/Tia Q/
Robert, last week I quoted from Ep5 Season 1 of Strange New Worlds, because it was so similar. However, the similarities of this Sim with Ep 6 Season 1 is uncanny!

I guess it is in the title of the series but, both the episode and this Sim/last Sim have:

1) First/second contact worlds.
2) Worlds non-aligned to the Federation (even a world that has refused to join the Federation).
3) Worlds with impressive technology (so Prime Directive isn’t applicable) but less impressive space travel technology.
4) Cities floating above a less habitable world.
5) A world with their own different customs and ways.
6) A leader willing to questions the high moral standing of the Federation’s ideals.
7) Children kept in stasis (or in a Transporter Pattern Buffer).
8) A child who is “rescued” by the ship.
9) A culture that uses child sacrifice for the ends of it’s society (albeit that the episode is a little more grim than this Sim).
10) Captain Pike/Captain Glen have no jurisdiction to do anything at all about how these societies treat their children.

Where is differs is that Glen has a dilemma over whether to return the child, while Pike wasn’t appraised of the full facts. Also, Franz and the other children won’t be consumed within a cybernetic machine intelligence!!

Dave

I can assure you both of these sims were written well over a two years ago so likely far before any of these got penned for the show :P still I do agree it is creepy the parrells
