[Hiving off OOC discussion]

Lance was there he had a leg holster that he carried a Glock 17 in and he had a phaser in a concealed holster. Got a good idea to show too much tech but enough to show we can defend ourselves. Held out in the back of the group to always keep a bigger picture of any situation.

OOC: Ok a Glock 17? On an away mission? I find this quite strange for a Starfleet officer. Sure I could see it as a personal piece used for off duty time, but I highly doubt Starfleet would allow a on duty officer to use such weapons on duty especially given the whole point of armament is defense and while yes a Glock CAN be used for defense it can NOT have a true ‘stun’ setting as per Starfleet doctrine. However, I leave this choice of its allowance to the CO.

OOC: The use of the Glock 17 is mainly for defense i’m not following the sim very well I am posting this because the understanding is that we don’t want to show them too much of our technology Thus the weirdness of someone carrying a phaser with them. So showing basic technology while keeping our main technology secret might be the safest course of action.

OOC: I assumed the reason was to pretend we had lower technology firearms, however, the Roach has made a good point, that it’s use has no stun setting and would be deadly. This might not have the desired effect and make us appear more warlike. I also wonder where this expensive museum piece came from.

OOC: First off if that’s your reasoning of hiding more modern tech, fine, then just put the type-2 under your jacket and a type-1 in the boot. But a Glock is not normal starfleet doctrine nor I feel appropriate for inclusion on missions/sims, again I leave this up to Dave as CO though. Secondly though while yes these people ARE non-warp capable they ARE known to be in contact with other species going off your earlier comm talks before you joined, and their lack of FTL use is a choice not a lack of being able to do so. Third as we’ve all seen in TOS especially just because a society was pre-warp didn’t keep Kirk from messing around openly see many TOS episodes on this matter, they often did not do much to hide this fact either in some cases, or at most just did a simple disguise which often backfired, you never did see Kirk and company beaming down to a planet with a Glock say you only saw them use such when the locals had it already.
