Cross made her way to the gymnasium were doctor Hunter had taken the boy ,she wondered what they were doing there.As she entered the CMO saw only Hunter and Franz apparently no one else was around.It looked like the doctor was showing the boy how to use the punch bag .

‘’That’s its young man hit it with all the strength you can muster ‘’ she heard Hunter saying .Cross took some time looking on Men she thought while making her way towards them ‘’Hi there what are you two up to?’’ Cross asked in a cheerful tone while giving Hunter a brief intense look of murder .

Joe actually giggled for a second before he turned to Cross and asked her. “Doctor is the boy not just a humanoid but a mammal as well? And though I’m no big expert aren’t mammals all fed milk from birth? This being said the boy could have an allergy. In this case it could be detected by a simple test. Or you could just give him some non-allergenic ice cream. Ya knows, dairy free? Just a layman’s thought anyway.”

Joe didn’t wait around for Crosses reaction or answer. He knew that in all likelihood it wouldn’t be nice. Joe instead walked over to the bag and as Hunter held it, he instructed the boy. “Don’t go wailing away at it with all your heart son.” he said as he smiled and put his hand on the boy’s shoulder. “You do that you won’t do much but bruise your knuckles. Even with gloves on. “

Jo then proceeded to show the boy how to stand and how to lower your shoulder and how to step into the thrown punch thereby delivering a punch with twice the force with half the injury to your hand. Joe then told him to practice on the bag. Joe took a turn at the bag showing him. Punching back and forth left and right. “That will get your hand eye coordination going and learning that punch should serve you well in any little ballyhoo you get into son.” Joe finished with a smile.

Joe had come in shortly after Cross had. He stopped behind Cross and while it was admittedly not a bad place to be he had his eyes on Hunter and the boy. Something seemed to tug at his mind. Him and her and a child in the same room. He frowned and scolded himself silently. Listening to Hunters instructions to the boy he scowled and shook his head. Was the doctor trying to create patients for himself? He started to say something but instead walked up to Miri’s side and waited there for Hunters response.

Hunter was holding the punch bag as the boy with gloves on was slightly hitting it ,on seeing Joe the doctor gave a curt nod ‘’Cmdr’’ though a tiny little voice in his head said * Well,well if it isn’t the officer and a gentleman * as he remembered seeing him kissing Cross’s hand not knowing they were pretending to be living in an other era.

‘’Ma’am’’ Hunter acknowledged Cross, knowing how much she hated not being called by her name but for the sake of the child she kept her voice neutral ‘’Doctor where you not suppose to go and get an ice cream for the boy?’’ she asked .Hunter’s response was held at a neutral dead level ‘’Do you think that I was going to risk giving him an ice cream not knowing anything about food he usually consumes ? Was I going to risk the child having an allergic reaction or worse?’’ he finished off with a questioning gaze.

’’ I suppose you’re right it was not a good choice on my part ‘’ Cross admitted.Now she turned to Joe ‘’Our leader need more information could you please help me before I jump off the plank!’‘.

The female doctor just shook her head ‘’Even us human react differently to food,babies sometimes have to be given soya milk ,others get sever reaction from example nuts even to the extend of a reaction with some other person nearby opening a bag of them ‘’Cross looked at Joe ‘’Cmdr imagine what would happen if we get the boy down half unconscious or suffering from sever diarrhea,the Captain would ask for my head on a plate !’’ .

Cross tucked at Joe’s sleeve ‘’Do me a favor Cmdr try and find out about the planetary surface conditions ,the Captain wants all the information possible before we meet Dol ‘’ a finger touching her lips thinking ‘’Ah! and the exact circumstances under which his entire family was suddenly wiped out..I think that was his exact words,the boy had already told me he lived in a kind of institution with other children who had no family and that he has his own mentor which gave him the name Franz ‘’.

She then went on a nearby bench with arms across her chest looking on,remembering the days long gone, when she use to practice on the punch bag as if it was an aggressive opponent.

Joe watched as the boy tried to do as Joe showed him. The boy paused once to turn and smile at Joe and all Joe could think of was yeah lad I’d like to be punching the wretches who put you away like they did.

What he did though was to pat him on the shoulder as he increased his speed and say ,”That’s a darn good job son . So they call you Franz? Sounds like a fine name . I’m Joe myself . If you need anything you just tell Doctor Cross over there and she can get in touch with me . You know there are some things a young man just doesn’t like to share with a girl . And well to be honest, things girls don’t understand if you tell them.”

Joe then led him away from the bag saying ,”Don’t want you to get too much, let’s cool down a bit.” He then gave the boy two five pound weights and taking two himself he showed him what to do with them . As they sat on a bench doing curls Joe absentmindedly started to ask him questions. “So where are you from Franz? Must be a pretty nice place with good air and food . Even after all the time you spent in space you’re in pretty good shape.”

Cross watched Hunter leaving,she made her way next to Joe ‘’Got any more information ?’’ the CMO asked knowing the more undue time wasted the further she’ll find the Captain irritated .displeased and impatient .

Joe looked at Cross with a disappointed look on his face. “No, it’s a no go on any sort of information from him Miri. “Joe said as he watched the boy. “All he has is that he’s only lived on the station. If I had to place a bet, I would have to say that the planet is not all that welcoming one way or the other .”
