Bre took a PaDD and placed it on the table for Glen and Kord.

“I know that you gentlemen will make the final call on who takes my place but I couldn’t leave my family with just any comms officer. Here are half a dozen qualified people that I would be proud to see on the Merrimack. Of course, it’s your call.” she said.

On the PaDD were names and short bios of three Humans, one Vulcan, one Denobulan, and one Andorian.

“Are these colleagues you have worked with? In what capacity can you vouch for them?” asked Glen. “What I mean to say is that a language academic, or even an interpreter use to working on other planets, they cannot understand what it is to work on a starship. There are pressures you have been put under that only a very special person could deal with.”

“What do you think, Kord?” asked Glen. “I’m free to discuss these candidates with you now, if you would like?”

Bre gave that some thought.

Sitting back in her chair, “You bring up some very valid points Captain which leave half the people on that list out of the running I should say.”

Bre reached for the PaDD and removed the names of the Denobulan and two Humans and highlighted the Andorian’s bio.

“You will see that she has some experience in things other than languages. I find Tinga to be very multifaceted. We’ve worked together on some projects but, right now, she’s stuck at Starbase 217. For someone who’s served in the Andorian military you can see how stifling that can be. But she has this knack for languages you would find most useful. I honestly think she would do honor to the position.” Bre concluded.

Kord looked over at Glen.

“Looks like she already has ti figured out for us.” Kord said with a smile, “I’ll get on the transfer request paperwork.”

“She certainly sounds suitable,” said Glen. “Let’s do that straight away. We did have one Andoran on the Merrimack before.”

Once Bre had left, Glen said to Kord, “We might as well get Dr. Cross here too and give her the good news.”

Kord nodded and tapped his comms.

She simple rang the chime and waited ,still wondering if she did anything to make Glen furious.
