Glen looked back at the landing party to check they were all present. They didn’t appear shocked by the experience; the Merri had been through a lot he supposed, and this crew didn’t shock easily, but it still wasn’t everyday they saw serious injuries, or injuries to children. “How is everyone bearing up?” he asked.

“I’m fine.” Kord replied.

It wasn’t that Kord was unfeeling, he knew it might be hard for others but 40,000 years of war had jaded him to tragedies such as this.

“Dr. Jasper seems to have everything in Sickbay under control, but I haven’t heard from Lieutenants Ezial and Grey on the second Sleeper Ship recently,” said Captain Glen. “We should check in with them next.”

A few minutes passed which soon came to pass almost 20 minutes.

Glen was a little baffled now; the meteorite strikes couldn’t be that commonplace if a report was necessary every time one happened. So, they were not an everyday occurrence at all. That was a relief, and it explained why they didn’t have underground shelters and warning sirens, or why individual Alstaireans didn’t go about their business while constantly watching the skies. However, he was quite sure that the Federation could be of some assistance to the Alstaireans.

=/\= Although I’m not quite sure what I can brief them on. From our perspective, living under a constant threat of meteorite showers is not a very common occurrence. However, other planets have a wide range of natural hazards to deal with; earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunami, as well as a variety of hazards of their own making too, what with warfare and pollution. I think what is more important than the hazard itself, is their vulnerability; their ability to anticipate, cope with, resist and recover from the impact of the hazard, and from what I’ve seen here today, your society seems very well able and equipped to do that. Although, our scientists and engineers can certainly help you with better detection systems, and with ways to divert the larger objects from collisions, if you were to join the Federation. =/\= Glen added.
