She opened her eyes =/\=Status?Status!=/\= the doctor exclaimed =/\= We are in some kind of bubble and if it burst we’re done for=/\= her tone was from cool and calm.

Scans of the energy bubble seemed to show it was powered in by the bug city around them, from some kind of organic like battery system just beneath their feet which thankfully had not been damaged in the planet’s destruction.

Jasper was thankful for hearing the officers voice through the communicator. He kept quiet to not interfere with away mission business. But he was hoping to go back to the ship. soon. this mission has gotten beyond him now. But he knew he would have to talk to the others sooner or later during a mission debriefing. As Jasper kringed over the thought.

“I advise that we all stay perfectly still,” announced Glen. “I’m not sure how this force field works but if it is being powered by the bugs in this bug city, we certainly don’t want to do anything to stop that. I’m hoping that the comms being back online is a good sign - that the Merrimack has resolved the issue and returned - or that if that was the result of a space battle, then it is now over. They should return now and rescue us. We just need to be patient.”

Cross’ answer took Anna by surprise. She wondered if the XO might do better at handling this communication.

=^=Acknowledged away team.=^= she said a bit shakily and turned to the commander.

Lo and behold Cross’s arms fell numb as she did her best to keep the half unconscious man standing ‘’Captain I should not have given him such a strong analgesic and make him this drowsy but how could I have known we were about to end up in this darn bubble’’ the doctor said with a squeak of protest.
Glen had given the orders for no one to move so she could not even lay him down ‘’Dear Captain find a way to make me use the defective gene to my advantage for once ....annoy me,irk me,enrage me ‘’ had Cross gone mad or would Glen understand?.

Jasper acknowledges the order quietly of the captain and the other fellow officers. As he stood still as calmly as he could. Jasper let out a soft and shallow sigh. As he kept an eye out for anything suspicious or a possibly dangerous. Jasper tried to keep his mind on other things like realigning a magnetic constrictors in his mind to keep his mind off the siutation. As his haandds started to trimble a bit.

“I don’t what the Merri is waiting for,” said Glen, “but you should be able to carefully lay him down. I just meant that as we don’t know exactly how this field is powered, we don’t what to accidentally switch anything off. “

‘’My thoughts exactly’’ the doctor replied livid ‘’And since you do not know..your words not mine I’ll keep on holding this man’‘.
She had one of his arms wrapped around her neck holding it tight with her left hand and her other arm wrapped around his back ,putting the weight just under his armpit. The last thing she wanted was for her soul roaming the universe.

Glen took out his own communicator now. =/\= Glen to Kord. Further to what Dr. Cross just said, the situation is critical here. I have no idea how much longer this force field will hold. I don’t even know what is producing it. We are sitting in a bubble, floating in a most peculiar way. We’re ready to beam over, anytime you like! =/\=

William looked around, largely unconcerned. He seemed more fascinated with their current predicament “I’d be very interested actually too find out” He looked at his fingers, moving them slowly “You know something Captain, this means that you didn’t blow up the Planet” He gave his Commander a toothy Grin “That honour goes to Commander Kord”

“That hadn’t slipped my notice,” replied Glen. “However, I am the Captain of the Merrimack, and whatever my crew do aboard ship is in my hands.”

Planet disappeared… check
Bubble appeared… check
Babies still on leg… check
Momma still staring at her as if only the babies were saving the engineer’s life… check

Tia’s nerves were shot! And they had only been surface side a couple hours at the most. “Well… this is an interesting day,” she murmured half to herself. As responses were exchanged back and forth and the snake glared at her, Tia found it hard to think of actually disobeying the ‘stand still’ order. As she noticed a change in the momma snake, something came to mind. The snake was an air breather. She doubted, highly, that the serpent would allow its babies to die. “Don’t beam me out till these are gone!” She reminded those making plans for their rescue.

“If the transporters are working as they are designed, then the biofilters should scan and remove any organisms from incoming individuals,” replied Glen. The problem is that the biofilters are only effective against known organisms that it has been programmed to recognize, thought Glen.

Glancing at the others she smiled at Jasper. Seeing his nervousness, she nodded in reassurance. “No worries, Jas… think how amazing this story will sound next time we’re on shore leave! The girls will love it!” She hoped the embarrassment of her comment might override his fright and help him calm down a bit. As she spoke to him, she slowly moved to a slightly sideways lunge position. Putting her body closer to the ground, she hoped, would encourage the little ones to crawl off her and across the rocky ground towards their mother. She reached out to slightly stroke them in hopes that her touch would be something they didn’t like.

She just hoped she didn’t get hated to the point of being snapped at. She bit her lip and half held her breath as she did it. If they were beamed out of here, the last thing she wanted was the little critters hitching a ride with them.

Despite the physical exhaustion,Cross had another idea ‘’Say since the darn snakes are around your feet why don’t you pull down the trousers wrap them up and throw the critters away from the team as far as possible......a few seconds before we get transported ‘’ the doctor wondered if Tia would relish her proposition but then the Chief Engineer did seem a jovial character.
As the saying goes ‘desperate times call for desperate measures’.

As Tia looked down at the baby Serpents and lunged to the side the babies shifted a bit, then a loud ‘hiss’ from the Mother seemed to attract their attention and after a pause they slithered off her and over to the Mother, something seemed to happen then and the babies and Mother shimmered perhaps by some sort of transporter effect and vanished! Thankfully they still had their little energy bubble to keep them from the vacuum of space, it also seemed like they were done here....
