Cadet Colman beamed aboard the USS Merrimack. As the transporter beam revealed the cadet, he stood there with black hair, around 5’6, and weighed approximately 150 lbs. Coleman was dressed in the standard red tunic with black pants. The strap that held the tunic together was red with a “Senior Cadet” rank insignia (sorry if my description was not the best. Think of the uniforms that the cadets wore in Star Trek 2, The Wrath of Khan).
Picking up his bag and stepping off the transporter pad, Coleman said, “Hello, I am Cadet Lucas Coleman, on special assignment from the academy.”

Cadet Coleman

“Hello Cadet. Welcome aboard the Merrimack. What kind of special assignment are you doing? If you don’t mind me asking.” Said Hunnicutt. He then added “Let me show you to your quarters then to the captain. He is expecting you and again welcome aboard”. He then added. As Hunnicutt escorted the cadet to his quarters.

Lt. Hunnicutt

“I am doing my Senior Project here. In short, I am gaining command experience before I graduate. The idea is for me to have some idea what I will be facing after I am promoted to Ensign. Between you and me, this is much better than sitting through anymore training simulations, sir” answered the Cadet.

Cadet Coleman

“I agree on that Cadet. It’s the first I’ve been here in a long while. Would you like me to show you around cadet. I’ll also make sure that the captain will see you first thing cadet. What would you like to know about the ship?” Hunnicutt asked.

Lt. Hunnicutt

“All of that sounds good, sir. I will follow you” answered Coleman.

As the cadet and the Lt walks towards the engine room he then told the cadet “cadet this is the engine room. If you have noticed in your years there at the academy.” As the Lt. told the cadet. “Cadet tell me about yourself while we tour the rest of the ship.”

The Cadet was careful not to give out to much information while his tour was going on. He is somewhat of a private person.

As Lieutenant Hunnicutt showed the Cadet the engine room, Lieutenant Saark was walking by, looking for one of his medical Ensigns. NE Clark, his latest duty shirk. Last time, he’d caught the Ensign hiding out in Engineering, so this was the first place he checked today. As he was looking, his eyes caught the uniform of the person Hunnicutt was talking to and he stopped. “We’ve got a Cadet on board?” asked Saark, looking to Hunnicutt. It almost sounded like a note of incredulity in the Vulcan’s voice.

“Hello Lt. Yes we do have a cadet on board. He’s here for his command portion of his year in the academy.” As Hunnicutt looked.

Cadet Coleman smiled, put his bags down, and reached out to shake hands. “Hello, my name is Cadet Lucas Coleman. I am here on special assignment from Star-Fleet Academy.”

Coleman did not say anything out loud but he really wanted to find his way to his quarters. Carrying our his bags, for a tour of the ship, was not an easy thing to do. But, at the same time, he did not want to be rude as everyone was very nice to him. Besides, he was a cadet and even the enlisted men and women out ranked the cadets.

Cadet Coleman

“Welcome aboard, Cadet. It is a special assignment indeed. We do not see many Cadets on a ship such as this.” Saark said, shaking Coleman’s hand.

“Lt. Would you like to take him to sick bay and clear him before I continue”

Lt. Hunnicutt

“His evaluation can be completed when your little tour finds it’s way to the Sickbay, I’m sure,” Saark said to Lieutenant Hunnicutt. “The sickbay is something to see, though, of course. Tell me, Cadet Coleman, what department are you going into?”
