As the nurse rubbed Bre’s back,Cross suggesting it would be better if she was helped on the gurney ‘’Bre,we would get to sickbay quicker ‘’ the female doctor rationalized.The last thing she needed was the mother to- be giving birth before they reached sickbay.

Cross Dr.

There wasn’t enough fight left in Bre to argue. She had a feeling she would need her strength and it was better to have her water break on the gurney anyway.

“Fine, you win. Hot flashes… Dizzy… And I don’t even think my water’s broke yet.” she whispered hoarsely as she settled on the gurney.

Cross was glad Bre complied ‘’I’ll break the amniotic sac once we’re in sickbay…hold on love we are nearly there’’ .
With the mother to-be on the gurney they hurried into sickbay and inside the cubicle the ensign doctor had prepared ,two incubators were already placed in a corner. Taking the amniotic hook, the female doctor ruptured the membrane and checked the fluid to make sure it was clear of meconuim ‘’Bre with the next contraction take a deep breath and start to push if possible until I count to ten....................one,two,three, four ,five ,six’‘.
Where was the old midwife when you needed her?.

The fluid was clear and it was uncertain which sack Cross had broken. The last scan had shown one baby head down and the other breach. Bre began to push. She also started trying to control her breathing and use the meditation techniques she’d taught herself for this specific occasion. At the end of the contraction, she let her breath out and relished a few seconds of peace.

“So which one is that?” she asked as another contraction set in.
