[snip]Twonk’s maneuvers coincided with the return fire of the smaller ships again, more lances of their weapons cut into the Merrimack’s shields knocking them down further to 72% with bleed through along the saucer doing minor damage but mostly being absorbed by their Rodium armor plating. Still that bleed through had been 5 meters short of striking near their Impulse vents which could have done some serious damage! Luck favored the bold and ship’s named Merrimack it seems today!
In return on screen the Ark Angel had finished its own maneuvers and attack on the larger mushroom shaped Serpent ship, this ship banked slowly to port exposing its port side beam to the Ark Angel, seemingly a foolish maneuver!! But as it turned out it perhaps wasn’t so foolish as the Merrimack also saw slits open along the port side with 12 bluish hued energy pulses lance out to the Ark Angel, which after a seconds pause began an attempt at emergency maneuvers to avoid!
The Merrimack had its own troubles though as the remaining 6 smaller ships once more came along the Merrimack’s threat line, 2 to port and 4 to starboard just abreast of their nacelles. Rapid fire pulses probed along the ships beam seemingly looking for weaknesses and doing further damage to the shields down to 65% this time, and blowing out a secondary EPS relay in the port nacelle pylon! A sparking panel fused out next to Lacey but did her no harm....
Lacey flinched involuntarily before realizing she wasn’t actually hurt, just startled.
As the Merrimack reached 400,000km from the planet Kord opened the line to the shuttle bay.
=^=Drop the first treat.=^= he ordered.
“Helm, as soon as it’s cleared from the shuttle bay, maximum warp for 2 seconds then return to sub-light.”
“Aye sit.” NE Twonk replied with a shaky voice.
After about 20 seconds, Dariusz, the ship’s navigator, spoke up. “Sensors indicate that the shuttlebay doors are open, Sir, and that the first package has been dispatched.”
“Maximum warp for two seconds Mister Pokorski.” Kord ordered, “After we drop back to normal space, send the detonation signal.”
“Aye, Sir!” replied Dariusz, setting the controls as ordered.
As the first bomb cleared the bay, the Merrimack went to warp the bridge crew also picked up the Ark Angel being impacted by the blueish missiles seeming to have survived the attack, as they went to warp they also picked up the Ark Angel madly accelerating to something pushing what seemed the impossible speed of warp 17 as if to emphasize this the needle on the helm console made a ‘ping’ sound as it broke…
Then on long range sensors the Ark Angel also got picked up as it left firing its own torpedoes out the aft quarter, the burst fire impacting just a shy second after Kord’s bomb went off. The shockwave picked up engulfed the system between the two blinding all sensors, but as that cleared 30 seconds later and sensors rebooted they picked up a vortex sucking in the last of the Serpent ships and sealing up with a flash. Kord’s subspace bomb had done its job as well disrupting the Serpent’s own portals, the combined energy vortex had shattered the system’s third moont though that the away team had been on!
OOC: This part assumed to be once you get back in system on impulse....
Upon reaching the system the local interference had cleared up, the ark Angel too was picked up dropping from warp and came in on an intercept course to the Merrimack’s port beam, life sign scans picked up the away team on a large bit of rubble of the moon some kind of high energy shielding keeping them alive from the vacuum of space.
While they couldn’t yet beam out the team, they could get comms in on them though now.
GM CockRoach
“NE Lacey. Re-establish comms with the Ark Angel and the away team ASAP.” Kord ordered. His calm demeanor didn’t waiver but there was a slight hint of elevated tension in his voice.
- Kord, XO
Anna hadn’t bothered to look at the screens. The imagery was just too much and she had her own work to do.
“Working sir.” she said without glancing up.
