When Dagen entered Engineering again he called his ‘team’ over and they each huddled around the situation table. It was a large, oval tabletop that held the vital information and map of the Genesis on it in profile. It could be changed about and focused in and anything else to narrow down to the issue at hand. He brought up the CMO’s quarters.

He looked around at the group .. Julia Ingles, a tall, dark eyed brunette who had earlier shown the CMO to Dagen. Next to her was Bat, a portly Bolian who could never seem to get a uniform that fit but always seemed too tight. Dagen had nicknamed him ‘Batman’ as the Bolian’s ears shot up like antennae. Deeg, who had been in and out of Dagen’s life since the Draco, was still the paranoid conspiracy theorist that he knew from years back. Next to him was Sebastian, a shorter man who was ever equipped with a pair of data-glasses or DG’s. Seraph rounded out the team - a Vulcan who Dagen had termed ‘Angel’ after a while.

He explained the situation quickly. “About a half hour ago someone tried beaming the CMO off the ship by way of what was likely a kind of pattern enhancer or locator disguised as a gift of jewelry that had appeared in her quarters. As a side note the XO is not a happy camper. Right now the CMO is in the brig as that is the best defense against transports. We have to work out several things.”

“Julia, you work with Deeg to try to figure what transporter was used on board, if at all. The main 6 transporter rooms should be manned at all times. Verify that and question the operators.”
“Batman, I want you to look at an outside component. The quarters had to have been accessed by someone inside that hour. Check the access logs on the door and look at ship logs to see if any sensors had picked up transports from outside. And if so why didn’t it alert the bridge?”
“Sebastian and Angel, you have the fun part. Just like at the brig I want pattern inhibitors designed to be put in her quarters so that she will not be beamed out. Angel, you’re best at that. Sebastian, you get to work on a portable inhibitor so she can move about the ship.”
“I’ll confer with the security chief about this device and work a multiphasic diagnostic on the shielding to discourage outside transports. Any questions?”

Deeg’s eyes shifted about. “Shuttles have transporters too.”
“Good point. Add them to your rounds too.” That was a good point.
Batman commented next. “Computers are voice activated and always pick up sound whether they are called on or not. If it was transported in we would have that sound log as all our transporters have a sound component of expelling energy from the fields.”
“Good one. I’ll bring that up with security if we need that log opened. We should be able to do it but just in case I’ll check.”
“Logically there should be a motive,” Angel commented.
“Which we don’t know yet,” Dagen replied with a shrug. There wasn’t any other questions coming so he clapped his hands and said, “Let’s do this.”

Dagen initiated a shield diagnostic on the multiphasic shields to alternate random frequencies and test field integrity status right after sending a complimentary note to the bridge engineering console that they were doing a diagnostic spread on the shields and, barring any emergency, would be unavailable for several hours.

Then, turning to the devices in question, he pondered what to do. =^= Thor to Lt Jarvis. A device was passed to you or the security chief by the XO. =^= He hoped it was the XO and not the CMO alone who did that. =^= I’m trying to find any information relating to this. It was a piece of jewelry that was likely used as a comm badge or transporter lock device. =^=
