Julien chuckled as he motioned Ben to stand next to him, looking into the bright blue eyes of the young man.
“Always so correct Ensign Park, your sense of duty is admirable. You’ve been with us for four years now and never once neglected your duty, this is what makes a good Starfleet Officer… but that’s not why I’m giving you… this.”

and with that word Julien held up a collar pip with a serious smile. Only Captains had that weird talent to smile seriously.

“I’m giving you this because you have grown in this time in every way, as an officer and as a man, beyond the Ensign rank. You are always prepared for any eventuality, always ready to risk your life in order to defend that of your crew mates.” Julien said seriously and took Ben’s collar in his left hand, fastening the pip to it. He knew it was a big moment for Ben, first promotion was always special.

“Thus I herewith promote you to the rank of Lieutenant junior grade with all the privileges and responsibilities thereof. Congratulations Lt. jg. Park.” he said and stepped back, smiling broadly while a lot of people immediately started applauding and cheering.

Thomas was one of the first, loudly and enthusiastically clapping for Ben’s promotion. It was certainly well-deserved, with the junior officer having put in a great deal of effort to improving himself as an officer and a person over the last few years.

OOC: Congrats AJ. I know you already have higher ranks on other ships meanwhile, but it’s not the same as the first proper IC promotion of your first character and everything what Julien said about Ben IC is true for you as well :-)

IC: Tigress smile as she breathed a sigh of relief. She clapped with the other. She know she would have to work hard to catch up to Ben.

Chan leaned over to Tigress as she clapped “See this time there was nothing to worry about. A little distrust is a good thing. It’s keep you alert and sharp. However thinking something bad was going to happen at such a public event. Is not so great. However it’snot my place to say. When he was done, he clapped Ben on the shoulder and stepped back, applauding with the rest.

Calvin and Sage had just made it over to where Riley and David were standing in a loose group of officers. She smiled at the two men and nodded her head in a silent greeting, then turned to the dais and watched Park receive his first promotion. She clapped along with the others. It was a big day for the security officer.

Standing near Riley, David, and the others, Marishka gave a polite smile to the CMO and XO as she clapped for Ben.

‘He truly deserved it.’ she thought.

Valleea clapped politely, not knowing the officer, but knowing just enough about this crew that it was probably deserved. She had been very happy for Dagen though, even though she still didn’t know him all that well. But a part of her still wanted to retreat, to leave this busy space and be alone with her own thoughts- not that that typically resulted in anything positive. It was taking great effort to stay, but she did, which was something of a coup she thought. Alone in the crowd, Valleea couldn’t help but feel like she was having something of an out-of-body experience at the moment.

Chan looked amongst the crowd to see of everyone was having a good time. She wasn’t a Counselor but she knew that sometimes people needed a stranger to talk to, to keep them sain. Chan was a stranger to most of the crew. It seemed no matter how hard she tried to interact with the crew not many of them where aware of her existence or wanted to talk to her. Chan shrugged her shoulders great no I’m getting paranoid she thought to herself.

“Well, only person between you and Chief of Security. It only took me three years to get there.” Marius turned towards the Captain. “Fortunately this isn’t theTerran Empire. You don’t kill your boss and move up one step in rank.”

“And thank everything for that!” Thomas chimed in.

Julien burst into laughter, giving Thomas and Calvin an eye-roll.

“Endure the wrath of Doctor Brennan? I think not. Thank you Commander.” Ben chimed in. Ben smiled at him. Ben had a feeling that this was his former Department Head’s way of saying good job. Ben looked at Thomas “I won’t let you down Sir.”

Riley was happy to celebrate the good news. Park had come a long way from the headstrong new officer he’d met several years ago and the promotion was well deserved. He could feel the joy from many of the officers around him. That’s what was special about the Genesis, that they truly felt happy for their own.

“All right everyone, official part is over, from now on there’s only one motto: What happens on this holodeck tonight stays on this holodeck. Have fun!” he announced loudly.

Then he said in a normal voice: “I really would love a drink now. Ben, how good are your cocktail-making skills? Can you make us a “Ben’s Surprise Cocktail?” he asked. “I’m feeling courageous!” he added, laughing.

Tigress finly dicided to take her place next to Ben witch was normal at such functions. It was no secret that she only came because Ben had dragged her along. “ congratulations Lutenet Park” Tigress purred. She gave the captain one of her sceptical lookes. Her ears sat at a strange position turned back and halfway between down and up. She was happy that Ben had made premonition but she was not about to let her gard down around Julien.

Marishka approached Julien seeming to be in no hurry about it. She smiled and took a place next to him addressing Lieutenant Park.

“Congratulations Lieutenant. Well deserved I’m certain.” she said.

Marishka didn’t bother to address Tigress. What would she say to the woman that might not set her off? No, it was time to be good even though she had plainly heard Julien say he was feeling courageous.

Ben nodded at Marishka. He then turned to Tigress. “Thank you. What do you say about us going to get something to drink?” It was a plan to defuse any sort of tension Tigress was feeling from Marishka and Julien. Turning to the Captain. “Sir thank you for this opportunity Sir. I won’t let you down. Captain, with your permission I would like to get some drinks for myself and Ensign Tigress Sir.” He then smiled at her in front of Julien.

Park, BO Tactical/Security

Julien clapped Ben on the shoulder and gave him a smile. “Yeah sure, you two go get a drink.” he said, his eyes veering to Marishka.

Tigress growled and stepped between Ben and Julian. Her ears lay back agenst her head and she glared at Julian.” Please keep you hand off Ben Captain” she said coldly before turning and following Ben to the bar.

Tigress returned his smile. Then wondered what protocol had to say about what was going on between her and Ben. He put ranked her know. Could they still be friends? She watched the captain and Marishka for there reactions. She so wishe she we’re back in the Zooalogy lab it was simpler and she understood everything there.

Marishka smiled at Ben, Julien, and even Tigress. She was happy to see that Ben and Tigress had found someone. It wasn’t that Marishka didn’t like Tigress it was that she didn’t know her well enough. She was so different than any other Cait that Marishka had ever known every time they were together they seemed to set each other off but that wasn’t going to happen tonight Marishka hoped.

With the official part over, Julien let out a deep breath and while Ben and Tigress went for the bar, he slung his arm around Marishka’s slim waist and drew her in, taking a hold of her other hand with his and starting to sway to the music.

He looked down into the dark depths of her eyes and, without it being obvious, increased the pressure with which he pulled her into him. He knew he didn’t need any words, his mismatched green eyes bore into hers with all the eagerness and desire he felt. He still couldn’t believe that this formidable woman, secretely coveted by probably most male officers in the room… and a few females… was going to return to quarters with him.

As they walked away Tigress calmed down.” I didn’t trust the captain. Anyway how do you feel now that your a LT” she said. The growl was not completely gone from her voice.
