He then made a sign to one of the JOs and the music suddenly ceased, Julien stepped onto a chair and cleared his throat, smiling at his great crew. Pushing his voice to a higher volume he said:

“Good evening everyone and thank you for coming to this party, indeed thank you for another - in relation small - crisis averted again. You know I can’t promise anything, but our new mission orders are exactly what we and this ship are prepared for - deep space exploration. So finally I think we will all be able to do what we do best and discover new wonders, instead of fighting for our lives.
With that said, although the past crisis was no mission as such, it still showed again impressively what you are capable of, and that you constantly perform well above and beyond the call of duty. For that, I thank you.
In line of this, there were also promotions due that I was very happy to give.”

He motioned to Chan and Dagen to come to him and stand beside him. “As you know I’ve promoted our former CE Chan, who has chosen to step down from this position in order to have more time for her daughter, to full Lieutenant. Also Dagen Thor, who has stepped up to the challenge of filling Chan’s big shoes is now a full Lieutenant as well. Special thanks to both of you for setting up this spectacular setting for your party!” Julien said and started applauding, sure that the crew would join the cheering.

Thomas joined the polite clapping for both Engineers.

COS

Marishka clapped along politely with Julien and everyone else. Privately, she wondered what she, herself, might have to do to get a promotion of some kind. But that could wait for another evening.

Marishka

so much for letting the rumors fly Chan though to herself. she clapped with the rest of the crew. She was happy for Thor and was looking forward to spending time with Sheeah. She hoped everyone was enjoying themselves it was nice to have a night of fun. Even if Marishka’s advances on everyone made Chan feel a little uneasy. While she was happy for Julian she was skeptical of Marishka. It was probably Chan own biased against the Orion half of the women. However it still rolled in the back of her mind.

When the clapping died down, Julien continued “Also I’d like to thank Ensign Park for again cooking for us so deliciously this evening....” Julien looked around the room “Ben? Where are you?” he asked.

Ben raised his hand up as he was mentioned from the back corner viewing the cave walls with Tigress.

Park, BO Tactical/Security

Tigress turned as she heard Ben’s name called. She had been pulled from her thoughts about the ice cave. She smiled at been.” We should probably join them” she said with a smile.
Ensign Tigress

Julien spotted Ben and waved him. “Mr Park, would you join me, I have a little present for you…” he said with a sly smile.

“Yes Captain.” He exclaimed. That smile gave Ben some anxiety. He started to walk with Tigress to where the Captain is. In his mind he kept thinking about what is going to happen. He arrived within moments to where the Captain is. “Ensign Park reporting as ordered Captain.”

Park

Tigress followed Ben but hung back with the crowed. She know better then to willing get anywhere near the captain. She did not trust him. She watched Ben and the captain carfuly.
Ensign Tigress

Chan watched the room and noticed that Tigress looked a little weary. She walked over and slotted herself next to the Ensign “Are you OK Tigress? You look a little on edge.” she whispered kindly, well kindly for Chan.

Lieut Chan (Sub-DH Robotics)

Marishka stayed where she was watching with interest, glass in hand.

Tigress looked over at Chan. “ I don’t trust the captain and I don’t like how close Marishka is to Ben. They are up to sumthing” she practically growled under her breath. Her ears lay back agenst her head. Tigress has her reasons for not trusting the captain or Marishka. She was not likely to discuss them with Chan thow that was a conversation for the consuler to address. Even then Tigress was not likely to willingly descus it with him.
Ensign Tigress

Riley stood with Marishka, his arm still around David’s waist. MacGregor was still in their little group and he gave the security chief a side glance. If anyone had an idea what Julien was up to it would be Park’s DH.

Dekker, CNS

Thomas merely gave an enigmatic raise of his eyebrows. No need to spoil the surprise for Park… whatever the Captain’s surprise actually was.

COS

Julien chuckled as he motioned Ben to stand next to him, looking into the bright blue eyes of the young man.
“Always so correct Ensign Park, your sense of duty is admirable. You’ve been with us for four years now and never once neglected your duty, this is what makes a good Starfleet Officer… but that’s not why I’m giving you… this.”

and with that word Julien held up a collar pip with a serious smile. Only Captains had that weird talent to smile seriously.

“I’m giving you this because you have grown in this time in every way, as an officer and as a man, beyond the Ensign rank. You are always prepared for any eventuality, always ready to risk your life in order to defend that of your crew mates.” Julien said seriously and took Ben’s collar in his left hand, fastening the pip to it. He knew it was a big moment for Ben, first promotion was always special.

“Thus I herewith promote you to the rank of Lieutenant junior grade with all the privileges and responsibilities thereof. Congratulations Lt. jg. Park.” he said and stepped back, smiling broadly while a lot of people immediately started applauding and cheering.

OOC: Congrats AJ. I know you already have higher ranks on other ships meanwhile, but it’s not the same as the first proper IC promotion of your first character and everything what Julien said about Ben IC is true for you as well :-)

IC: Tigress smile as she breathed a sigh of relief. She clapped with the other. She know she would have to work hard to catch up to Ben.
Ensign Tigress
