They entered the hanger bay that had been re-fitted to accomodate the Normandy and there she was… a large fighter that looked rather intimidating yet sleek. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : They had to line up to make their way to the small cockpit space and the three additional chairs were visibly added to the wall of the cockpit right behind the pilot’s chair and they folded up. Julien pushed his down and took a seat. The good news was that there were seat belts. Right next to him was another folding chair and whoever sat on it would rub shoulders with Julien, but he didn’T mind. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : - Julien King. CO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : OOC: James, feel free to take over mini-GMming this from now on :-) : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : OOC: I think I’m gonna have to hit pause on this one until I get back from vacation and off my pLOA. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -James : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : OOC bumping for James who should be back soon now. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Riley moved himself into the middle jumpseat and latched himself in. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Cozy,” he remarked as David found his own seat and they were nearly set for departure. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Dekker, CNS : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Ok, let’s get going,” David said, reaching over and taking Riley’s hand and giving it a squeeze. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The Normandy gently lifted off the flight deck, turned around, and sped out. When they were clear, Aevin asked “Where to?” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Set a course back towards Black Rock,” he said to Aevin. “That was Jackson’s last known location that we were able to pinpoint for certain.” He let out a sigh, then opened up the small case he had brought with him. Inside were several unfamiliar looking devices. One looked wet futuristic, the others resembled transponders and tech of the current time. David picked up one of the transponders. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “This is kind of like a homing beacon,” he said aloud. “It will allow Jackson to pinpoint our location using futuristic technology that he will no doubt have access to.” He presses a button and the device began to glow faintly. He sighed again. “Now would be a good time to back out guys,” he said, chuckling sheepishly. “I can go on alone.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -David Michaels, CSO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Uhm, can you wait with switching it on until we’re a bit more away from the Genesis?” Julien asked. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : - Julien King, CO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Don’t worry Captain,” David said, managing a grin. “I’m actually bouncing the signal off various satellites and relays. He won’t actually have our exact location. I plan to have the upper hand here.” He paused, looking at their small motley crew. Jackson definitely wouldn’t be expecting David to have company. There was more going on here than a former lover wanting to reconnect. Jackson always had an ulterior motive. David just had to let this play out and figure out what that motive was. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -David Michaels, CSO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Aevin got them moving at top speed and then switched on autopilot. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -Aevin, Pilot : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Riley was used to hurtling through space in what was basically a metal tube, but the size of the Genesis allowed one to monetarily forget just how vast the emptiness that surrounded them was. The Normandy was small, the bulkhead separating them from the lethal vacuum all too near. He needed a distraction. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “You know Jackson,” he was speaking to David, even though he remained facing forward. “What can we expect?” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Dekker, CNS : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Julien looked at Riley and then at David, curious for the answer. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : - Julien King, CO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : David sighed loudly. This was not a subject he particularly wanted to discuss, but he knew that giving them at least some information could be helpful. “We can expect the unexpected. He is a master manipulator and his heart is full of a need for vengeance.” David himself never really knew when the man he once loved had been filled with so much anger, but he knew that it had consumed Jackson and was now his driving force. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : As David was talking the device he had activated made a beep, and he reached into his bag and pulled out his futuristic tricorder. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “He’s sent coordinates,” David said, tapping at the screen on the strange device. “I’ve sent them to helm control. He shook his head. “Of course. He wants us to meet him on Risa.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -David Michaels, CSO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Aevin took the controls off autopilot and adjusted their course and speed, all the while thinking about Michaels’ comment about ‘a need for vengeance.’ “We’re on our way to Risa. Warp 5.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -Ensign Aevin, Pilot : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Riley’s first thought was one of relief. They weren’t off to some god-forsaken rock in the middle of nowhere. His second thought was more of a question. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “What’s he hoping to gain by meeting on Risa? Does he think he’ll lull you into lowering your defenses by meeting on a planet known more for pleasure than conflict? Or is there another motive?” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Dekker, CNS : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Julien had his suspicions why he had picked Risa, but that was for him beside the point. “From what you’ve told me he’s a man who likes surprises. Well we should have our own surprise when we meet him. It should be only you two.... on first glance.” he looked at Aevin and grinned. : : : : : : : : : : : : “How do you feel about becoming a Risan for some time and acting as if we were simply serving Taquerian Sunrises?” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : - Julien King : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Something told Riley that Julien would have made a good bartender in a past life. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Aevin looked back from the pilot’s seat. “I’m almost 200 years old and I’ve never been a waiter.” He turned back to face the controls. “And here I thought I had run out of new experiences. Serving Taquerian Sunrises it is.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -Ensign Aevin, Pilot : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : That actually made Julien laugh out loud in mirth. “Great! Once we’re down, I’ll replicate a dermal kit and I’ll alter our appearance. Jackson can’t find it surprising you’d want to meet in a public spot. Aevin and I will be close, posing as Risan waiters.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Then Julien got serious again, held up the index finger of his android arm and suddenly a long needle extended from the tip. “I’ll give you time to talk, I will be able to hear you from far away, but if he tries anything, if he wants to swipe you or harm you, he won’t get far. This won’t kill him, it’ll paralyze him for a good half an hour, undetectable by scanners, as it appears to be part of my prothesis.” he said. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : - Julien King : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Riley turned toward David, an eyebrow raised, “What do you think? I’d like to have a few tricks up our sleeve, but will Jackson see through it? With their appearances altered, he shouldn’t have a clue, right?” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Dekker, CNS : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : David gave a shrug. “I’d like to say yes, but the tricky thing about time travelers is you never know what future events we might have already seen.” The truth was that David had no idea what kind of access to future technology that Jackson might have. He had always assumed that like David, Jackson was permanently stuck in the current timeline. But something about recent events were leading him to believe otherwise. This entire business was unsettling to David and he just wanted things to be done with. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “How much longer until Risa?” He asked Aevin. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -David Michaels, CSO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Riley mulled over David’s words. He’d always assumed that his and Jackson’s arrivals in the present had altered the future, leaving the details of their knowledge less and less accurate as time passed. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “How could he know what we’re doing now. The future you both come from is now your past. Do you think he’s still in touch with your former time, able to receive updates on the altered timeline?” : : : : : : : : : : David shook his head. “I really don’t know. At this point, anything is possible.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : That would put the rest of them at a huge disadvantage. It would also mean Jackson could work toward a return plan. One that could include David. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Dekker, CNS : : : : : : : : : : : : Julien checked the display. “Not much longer. I know a Starfleet clinic on Risa, we can go there for the physical alterations, it won’t take long.” he said, listening to their conversation. : : : : : : Riley made a fair point, personally he was not so worried. : : : : : : : : : : : : - Julie King : : : : : : : : : : Once the Normandy was in range of Risa, they were given landing clearance and made their way to the docking area. : : : : : : : : : : As the ship powered down, David looked around, from Aevin to Julien and finally to Riley. He gently took the Counselor’s hand. : : : : : : : : : : “Are we ready to do this?” David asked, his voice full of his own apprehension. : : : : : : : : : : -David Michaels, CSO : : : : : : : : Aevin gave a simple nod. “Ready.” : : : : : : : : -Ensign Aevin, Pilot : : : : : : Riley was ready. His dark eyes searched David’s face, trying to ascertain if the scientist truly was as well. : : : : : : “Okay. Let’s do it.” : : : : : : Dekker, CNS : : : : “Right,” David said, exiting the ship, taking a moment to survey the area and get his bearings. He had been to Risa many times before, in many different timelines. It never really changed much throughout time. It was always a center of pleasure and relaxation. On Risa, anything goes, and judgement is non-existent. : : : : Turning to Julien, David gave a nod. “You and Aevin go ahead and visit the clinic. I have a good idea where we should start looking.” He and Jackson had only been to Risa once before, on a mission, but there was usually time for some R&R. : : Julien eyed him a bit critically, but then nodded. “All right, but keep your communicator with you at all times and when Jackson does show up, just let us know. It’ll drain the Normandy’s energy quite a lot, but that’s ok since we’re docked, so Aevin can site-to-site transport us to your location in seconds.” he said and gave Aevin a questioning look, hoping he was right about the transporter reach of the ship. Aevin clearly had to calculate in his head for a moment. Then he nodded. “We’ll get to you.” : Then he nailed David with a hard stare. “Do not take any chances David, for all our sakes.” he said with the undertone of command, although he had said he was not the Captain on this mission, but Julien could never quite let go of it and he did care deeply for Riley, he even dependet on the counselor for his own sanity. But more than that, both men were his friends.
Riley put one hand on Julien’s shoulder, giving him a reassuring squeeze.
“Thank you,” he looked to the pilot. “Both of you. We’re a team and we will operate as one.”
Finally he looked to David. His last statement was meant as much for the scientist as the others. He loved David, but he knew him, knew that at his core he was still the independent operator he’d been before joining the Genesis. He’d come a long way, but in the moment his nature would control his reaction. Riley knew his role as they separated was as much to keep David tied to his new reality as anything else.
: :
: : : Taking Riley by the hand, David led them through the city, silently moving as if two lovers enjoying a romantic stroll together. The entire time, his eyes were on wide alert, sweeping the area for Jackson, although he didn’t think it would be quite that easy.
: : :
: : : Soon, the couple would arrive at a large resort. Complete with several pools and hot tubs, it would be quite the spot to enjoy the beautiful sunshine, were it not for the nature of their visit.
: : :
: : : Seeing no sign of Jackson, or anything suspicious, David stripped off his shirt, tucking it into his pants. Looking over at Riley, he gave a smile and a shrug. “Well, when in Rome.”
: : : -David Michaels, CSO
: :
: : Meanwhile Julien and Aevin made their way to the clinic, catching a hover slider. It would only take them 5 minutes.
: :
: : “I think I know what you’re thinking. Why did we leave them alone. They need some time together, this is not easy for them, they are both afraid more than anything that this adventure could damage what they have worked so hard to build together.” he said to Aevin.
: : - Julien King
:
: Aevin looked pensive for a moment. “Well, Trill don’t really do romantic love. But I’ve seen a lot of it. If they’re really that close, one jerk from the future won’t be able to undo it. Especially given how stubborn Michaels is.
: -Ensign Aevin“That’s one way to draw attention,” Riley quipped, admiring his lover’s physique as he followed his lead and disrobed above the waist. “So, what’s the plan? We happen upon Jackson and then, what?”
Dekker, CNS
David gave a shrug. “We are kind of on his turf now. I guess we will just have to wait and see.” Spotting a few available lounge chairs by the main pool, David led Riley over and took a seat. He scanned the crowd for any sign of Julien and Aevin.
Leaning over towards Riley, David whispered. “It’s probably a long shot, but are you sensing anything.... out of the ordinary?”
-David Michaels, CSO
