Niniane looked a bit surprised but then nodded. “Hm, I haven’t thought about it that way yet. Maybe I should start trying out a few things, now that I now I’ll NOT live forever, huh?” she said to Valleea and launched into carefree laughter, while wrapping an arm around Valleea’s shoulders after hopping down off the biobed.

“You have options,” Valleea replied with a chuckled.

“How much longer until you need to work again?” Niniane asked. “Are you on the evening shift like me?”

“Not today. But I’m working a double tomorrow, so I’m free. It works out well as I’ll need to make it an early night. What are you thinking of?” the Kirosian asked.

Ensign Valleea, Doctor

Niniane shrugged. “I don’t know but I so enjoy spending time with you. I was originally planning to take a swim in the pool, you know, as a workout, for health and so. Care to join me?”

Valleea shrugged. “Sure, why not. I know how to swim, though I will admit I’m not terribly good at it. Just enough for it to not be a survival problem. I definitely won’t be racing any one.” She eyed the results still on display and then looked back at Niniane. “But then again, I’ve got quite a long lifetime to learn these things. I’m in no rush.” It was the first time she had thought that way about her own life. Everything had always seemed so immediate, but the Genesis going down and now Niniane’s own personal revelations had sparked something of an epiphany in the Kriosian. And like most epiphanies, it was hard to say where it would lead her.
