Freddy strolled into engineering with a slight bounce to his step. Half walking, half dancing he came up behind Thor. “Ah the engine room,” he said happily. “I swear when an engine room runs perfect it almost feels like a tune you can dance to however,” he pulled out a stylus from him pocket, “that is if it is running perfectly. Freddy had a tone that often made people wonder if he was serious or joking.

“Now is that a .695 variance on the electo-dampening coupler or do my ears deceive me?”

Dagen cocked his head to one side. Freddy. He was that person in your dorm who just came over and hovered, just to be there, and ever had something to say about something. Every dorm had one. And that meant every ship had one. “You said that about Bat’s popcorn machine that he built last week, didn’t you?” Dagen replied. “Usually it is Angel telling me about aberrant vibrations.”

To date Dagen had no idea what department he was in; it seemed that nobody wanted to own up to him. Still, he did glance to the board and brought up the EDC status board. A broken clock, as his grandfather Burle had said often, was right twice a day.
