USS Genesis
Deck 3, Transporter Room 2 - Arrival of Dr. Edelu
The shimmer of the transporter beam dissipated, and Dr. Edelu emerged on the pad with his satchel slung over one shoulder. His silhouette was still for a beat, long enough to let the hum of the Manhattan-class vessel settle into his bones.
This ship had presence. Not just size, but weight. Purpose.
He nodded a quiet thanks to the transporter chief, who greeted him with the typical Starfleet efficiency. “Welcome aboard, Doctor.”
“I appreciate it,” Edelu replied in his low, deliberate voice. He stepped off the pad, boots clicking softly on the clean deck plating.
He knew Sickbay was just a corridor turn away—another benefit of a tightly designed mid-deck layout. No need for a turbolift. No need for fanfare.
He made his way through the corridor at a steady, unhurried pace. The ship was alive with faint vibrations, subtle power transfers coursing through its bulkheads. Somewhere nearby, a young ensign laughed too loudly at something on a PADD. The scent of fresh composite and recycled sterilant lingered in the air.
All of it felt familiar. Not home, not yet—but he was no stranger to building a life aboard unfamiliar decks.
He paused outside the Sickbay doors, squared his shoulders, and adjusted the strap on his bag.
Chief Medical Officer, USS Genesis. A far cry from Mintaka III. A longer road than most in Starfleet would ever walk. But he was here now. And there was work to do.
The doors slid open with a soft hiss.
Edelu stepped inside to take command of his new domain.
