“Oh damn, I think we’ve got incoming.” Reia sprang to her feet her voice rising as she spoke. This could be bad.

  • Reia, CIO/Comms

Dagen felt it too. It was that background sensation of the warp core thrumming and the engines purring that an engineer simply got used to and didn’t think of too much until it was, you know, not sounding right. And right now it was not sounding right. It wasn’t that it didn’t sound like an engine humming along but it was a planet and it just simply shouldn’t sound like that.

“Think you’re right,” Dagen said, stepping back and pulling out the tricorder device to check for life signs. He glanced at their progress too; where were they with the rest of the scientists trapped. The Captain and Counselor were out and freed though acting like their body was flooded with Novocain.
- Dagen, CE

“They aren’t going to make the same mistake twice, so we aren’t going to get another chance at getting away.” He patted his body hoping they might have missed a weapon or two.

Tom checked his weapon and prepped for directions to be called out. He was really wishing he had one of his DMSO spray weapons right now.

  • Tom, IntSec

Magnus instinctively moved to stand right in front of the Captain, raised his Beltran rifle “Spread out, cover and raise weapons if you can.” He said simply.

The tremors were becoming more pronounced and the rushing sound louder. It would make sense to take up a tactical position but it appeared that the noise and vibrations were all around them.

It would not take long before the group was surrounded by a large contingent of Gorn and a single Beltran standing among them that did not seem to be scared or worried. “Please put your weapons down and we will not hurt you.” None of the Beltrans in the group seemed to know this person by face or voice.

GM Kate

Tom understood his team’s tactically disadvantageous positioning and lowered the weapon that the Beltrans had supplied to him as he retrieved the ‘flashlight’ from the tactical rail.

  • Tom, IntSec

Luckily, Reia did not have her weapon in hand at the moment so felt no need to put it down. She did however scan the area for tactical advantage. Who the hell was this Beltran anyway?

  • Reia, CIO/Comms

Magnus didn’t lower his weapon and wouldn’t unless the Captain ordered it “I would kindly ask that you identify yourself first” He said putting on his most charming smile weapon aimed directly at the speaker.

XO

‘Ravenous insects, ravenous lizards, and bird people working together. What was the galaxy coming to?’ Thomas thought, as he shifted his weapon slightly to point towards one of the Gorn, judging it to be a greater threat than the sole Beltran.

COS

Unless numbing them with the goo on his gloves was considered a weapon, Dagen wasn’t really armed or dangerous. Given that they were in a tunnel the bunched up Gorn wasn’t the most threatening to him but it was highly curious. That they were behind and in front of them meant they couldn’t outrun the slower moving lizards. Still, this was a development that was most curious. What happened to the ship? How did the Gorn get there without communication from the ship to them? Who was this Beltran anyway and who did he speak for and what was the great point of them paying much attention to this landing party cum rescue mission? Surely the Gorn weren’t the most generous of sorts and even with their thicker hides those rodents would still make a meal out of them. More puzzles. Were they then prisoners? The Beltran wasn’t looking concerned. The Gorn? How would he know from their lizard like expressions? He gave Reia a shrug and a glance that suggested a ‘what could possibly go wrong with this?’ situation.
Dagen, CE

“A very unexpected rescue and unexpected rescueers.”

Calvin Marius CO

The woman nodded and took a small step forward. “Those of you which are from the Federation you may follow me. If you are Beltran please remain in the back of the group for processing.”

Vanessa looked at the woman with a confused stare. “What do you mean by processing?”

Processing. That was a unique term that brought to mind a great deal of engineering terms, none of which were particularly favorable. He looked from the Captain and Counselor to their ‘rescuers’ who seem to be rather selective in nature.

“The Gorn and Volians have a truce. The Gorn provide protection for them and the Volian provide them a vital resource. The Gorn did not care if you were selected for removal from the hide however the Volian’s felt that it would only cause issues with future treaties with the Federation.” The woman sounded as if she were a recording versus a real person. Her actions were also slow and methodical.

GM Kate

“Someone tricorder her,” Calvin snapped. There was something off about the woman and the disturbing message she gave. “From a perimeter around the Beltrans. We don’t leave anyone behind.”

Marius CO

Dagen has his and turned and made the short toss to the Captain before shifting to interpose himself as ordered. But wait. The Volians felt it would cause issues? Not the Beltrans? Where had it been determined that the Volians were sentient and capable of communication with others? And why with the Gorn? How did they even get in touch with said Gorn? And why would the Federation even be interested in treaties with this world when there seemed to be one happening with the Gorn who do not have any interest in the Federation? A truce? Why do the Gorn need a truce when they didn’t even live on this world? When were the Volians and Gorn in conflict that they need a truce? And how did that come about? At the expense of the Volians? Eat them not us? Was that the truce? What was this processing anyway? Just a food source? Or something else? Experimentation?
- Dagen, CE

Anyone who performed the scans would see that the brain waves were more like someone sleeping versus wide awake. The best example would be someone sleep walking.

GM Kate

Thomas looked over the shoulder at the tricorder scan, then up at the Beltran. She certainly appeared to be awake, if stiff, which left… “Mind control?” he asked quietly.

COS

Reia read the results several times before glancing back at Thomas with a nod.

“Or some type of synthetic we’ve never seen. What the hell kind of resource do you obtain from a living being?”
