Valleea actually laughed a bit after Sebastian had left. “Was that… some sort of proposition or a threat? My, my, his style needs work. Where I come from, no one would dare with something so lazy and unrefined.”

Marishka hadn’t been paying a lot of attention to the man Tom was talking to but did overhear that last remark. Smiling, she stepped away from the piano and went to Valleea’s table.

“I have no idea and I’m not worried. But I’m very curious as to what you’re doing there.” she said pointing to Valleea’S needle work, “It looks rather complicated but good practice for a surgeon’s hands I suppose.

The Kriosian smiled and carefully pulled the needle off a set of dark pink threads she had been using to create an elaborate little round flower with petal layers in a reverse gradient . “That it is.” She laid out the piece, which was encased in a metal frame and turned it so Marishka could see it better. The light grey silk fabric had a scene slowly being created and it looked like the beginnings of some sort of meadow with wildflowers. The background had some blue and green hills that had been outlined but not yet filled in. The colours were vibrant and were built up in layers.

“It’s a very old art form that they used to do in large form, much like a tapestry. Some of them would take years. My mother taught me, though I sort of hated it really. But I found once I hit medical school that it was indeed very good for my fine motor control.”

“Have you played the piano long?” Valleea asked.
